its a misconception for real that teachers tell us if u get good marks universities and bursaries will come to you, i got 8 distinctions but i struggled to get funding tbh

Hi, I am in matric. I've preformed well in grade 11 finishing off with all A symbols and A+'s in math, physics and life sciences. I have been preforming poorly in the last two terms in matric due to personal issues and have come to a realization that studying medicine is truly my passion. I have already sumbited my applications to various universities for engineering degrees. Now it is too late to change my application to study medicine or anything in the medical field. My first question is, how can I study medicine next year if I do exceptionally well in my final 2 terms? My second question is, do you think it is wise that I study medicine? Thank you for the eye opening content btw, really appreciate it. 🙏✨

Hi, the only way you can study medicine next year is if you apply this year even though it might be already late and I don’t know if there is any institution taking late applications for medicine. If you strongly feel like medicine is what you want then you might have to apply next year for the following year. I don’t know your whole situation so I can’t say much, but it’s possible that you might like engineering since you applied for it and I assume you have passion for it too.

It’s best to apply during matric but you can apply after you get your results if there are any bursaries open but most of them close the previous year (in matric) for people applying for the following year

You apply now before they close but they will give you final decision after they’ve seen your matric results. They don’t require them immediately if you are currently in matric

Hi, I applied for both nsfas and isfab for my first year MBCHB degree ukzn, I got approved by nsfas .My matric results are exceptionally great. My question is, will I be given a chance to chose between between nsfas and isfab or isfab will just cut me out ,even though I meet the requirements

I'd advise you to do computer science, you can major it with physics Computer scuence has greater job opportunities than astrophysics, even though they're similar in terms of difficulty and both need a lot of coding

Hi Sithembile, I’d say aim for your level best…getting atleast 75% average puts you at a better chance of getting bursaries but being accepted at medical school might require more than that, so try to get above that
