BURSCON's Enchanting Visit to Aafin Ilu
Ede was agog when the distinguished members of the Bursars' Association of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology (BURSCON) recently visited the renowned Aafin Ilu art center as part of their 49th Regular Meeting activities.
The delegation, led by BURSCON President Salisu L. Ladan, was warmly received by Prince Adewale Laoye, CEO of Aafin Ilu and popularly known as the "Drummer of Peace." The Federal Polytechnic, Ede, under the leadership of Rector Engr. Dr. Sani Man Yahaya and Bursar, Prince Caleb Olanrewaju Olagunju happens is the host of the statutory meeting.
Prince Laoye, a respected cultural ambassador, provided the visitors with an enlightening presentation on the educational aspects of Yoruba drums. The BURSCON delegates were thoroughly engaged, paying rapt attention to the cultural insights shared during the session.
The highlight of the visit came when the art center resonated with the rhythmic beats of traditional Yoruba drums. The typically reserved financial administrators were moved to dance, creating a lively atmosphere that blended education with entertainment.
"It was an interesting, interactive, and thrilling moment," said Tobi Olanipekun, Media and Communications Director for Aafin Ilu. "The delegates not only learned about our rich cultural heritage but also actively participated in the musical experience."
This cultural excursion marks a noteworthy addition to BURSCON's meeting agenda, showcasing the association's commitment to holistic professional development that includes cultural awareness.
The visit to Aafin Ilu has been hailed as a success, with participants expressing high levels of satisfaction with the unique experience. This event underscores the potential of cultural tourism and tourist centers like Aafin Ilu in enhancing professional conferences and meetings.
As the echoes of the drums faded, the BURSCON members departed with newfound cultural knowledge and memorable experiences, testament to the unifying power of music and tradition in today's professional landscape.
Aafin Ilu continues to stand as a beacon of cultural preservation and education, welcoming visitors from various walks of life to experience the rich tapestry of Yoruba culture.
