How do you actually properly and safely floss a crown? I am afraid it will pop off. Can you use a waterpik or should you do both? Can you use a sonic toothbrush? I can't find a video anywhere showing how to do this properly and safely.
@BURSTOralCareTV
@BURSTOralCareTV 2 жыл бұрын
Sonic toothbrushes and water flossers combinations are both great options for cleaning around you dental work. As long as your crown or bridge is free of decay and the cement is holding well, you shouldn't have any problems. When you use a string floss, you'll want to floss down the long axis of the tooth, from "head to toe", and under the gums well. If you feel any ledge or crown margin that gets the floss resistance, you can pull the floss through instead of back up again.

The center of my tooth hurts when I bite now.. it has only been a few days though. Idk if i really needed a crown... I had a cavity like 30 years ago... Never had any issues w the filling or another cavity but the past 4 years the dentist has been recommending a crown bc of a small fracture in the tooth and being a tooth grinder. Had an extra $1300 so said let's do it to avoid a potential future problem...

Had mystery tooth pain in an upper left molar for years. No one knew what it was. Eventually I had a small cavity in that tooth. After it was filled the tooth hurt REAL bad. So I got a root canal. That fixed it about 90% of the way, but still hurt when tapping the teeth. So then I get the temporary crown put on about a week ago, that put it back down to about 78% better. Drinking coffee and being in front of fans once again is uncomfortable. I feel like once the permanent crown is on, it'll still hurt and just be WAY harder to fix? idk, what to do. idk, what to ask. It just sucks.

It may have a hairline crack that they can't see or maybe abscessed. I had hairline cracks that dentist couldn't find for years and then one day the tooth just cracked in half and the pain was gone. Although we can't give you any specific advice, stay in touch with your dentist... all dental work can cause some sensitivity, especially if the damage or restoration are near the nerve of the tooth. As you can imagine, the BEST way to find a solution for any residual pain is to keep in touch with your dentist that did the work. Check the bite, perhaps have them suggest a anti inflammatory while your nerves settle down. Again, only a dental professional that has you and your images in front of them will be able to give a diagnosis

My temporary crown just came off and I swallowed it. They can't fit me in to give me a new temp until Monday, which is 5 days away. Problem is...starting Monday I have jury duty, so I can't get in to see them until the following Monday at which point the missing crown tooth will be exposed for 12 days at that point...is that dangerous? I have a retainer I wear every night since I finished Invisalign, so I'm not so concerned about the teeth shifting as my retainer will/should keep them in place. I'm not concerned about the gum/tooth being exposed and getting an infection? I did not have a root canal done, just a regular non root canal crown.

A week ago I got my first two crowns. The first 3 days was a horrible gum pain. It was swollen. It's fairly common to see a "ledge" or margin of the man made crown. You can rinse with warm salt water and let your dental team know if the swelling doesn't go away in a few days. Hi doctor, I got a temporary crown on one of my molars recently. I'd had a pretty big filling on that tooth and the dentist drilled it down and then placed on an aluminum temporary crown. I couldn't feel it at the time because I was all number up from novocain, but later in the day as my tongue went over the teeth, I noticed that there is a space between my newly-temporary-crowned molar and the adjacent tooth. I don't think that space was there before, but it's hard to say since my cavity was placed on it maybe 20+ years ago. I called my dentist but the gal at the office didn't seem to think this was a big deal. Will the permanent crown fit better than this temporary one? I have no pain when I bite on the new temporary crown, and there isn't any sensitivity with hot or cold foods/liquids. Any advice? Thank you.

Even with all of the cool advancements in dentistry, it can still be challenging to get the shape of temporary (and permanent) crowns to mimic the original tooth. When you have the permanent crown seated, that's the time to ask questions, have your bite checked, floss that area and make sure it feels just right :). Good luck from team BURST
