I am proud of Angie Dickerson and how she nurtured her daughter. I know first hand how caring for someone with a mental issue can drain you mentally, emotionally, physically and financially, because of my current situation of trying to care for my 83 year old sister with dementia. These people are so cunning, despite their emotional psychopathy. You find yourself hating to put them in an institution, but it depends on how much each person can take. I always enjoyed Angie's movies too. God bless you Ms. Dickerson.

‘Shame’ is relative. We know of a family whose oldest son suffered oxygen deprivation, (hospital fault) and developed cerebral palsy. Very smart guy, but could do little for himself. The couple went on to have two daughters, who were very close to their mother while dad cared for their son, almost alone. We worried what would happen to the son after his dad died. We found out, his dad had a heart attack, dying almost instantly from it and the more frail mother committed their son to a sanitarium. She ‘couldn’t bear to visit him’, so the sisters ‘did their duty’ but even tho the son was commited & she never visited him, it seemed to break her and she too would die prematurely. We all think we know what we would do in such tragic circumstances, but w/o living it, it doesn’t seem right to be so harsh on the fact they were all flawed people.

I think he should read his daughter's note to get a glimpse into how she felt. Why is it when someone is mentally ill, they are treated like an outcast by society? This is why there needs to be "sensitivity training" about mental illness.
@missy65972 жыл бұрын
That can be a horrible disease, meaning the way it affects the person who gets it. They can be productive at one particular thing, or at nothing at all. The little fella in our family started killing animals and starting fires probably around 5 or 6, breaking out of the house and walking down the highway at 2,3 in the morning, so he had to be institutionalized. That was one of the hardest things the family has ever been through. It is a terrible thing to see a loved one suffer with and you can’t do anything about it. And there’s no cure. I’m just wondering why her daddy will not open the letter, wonder what he did wrong, he’s got a guilty conscience about something. But in the meantime, my heart goes out to them both for losing a child, to that horrible disease. They should’ve left her where she could’ve been looked after 24/7, but thanks for sharing their story, I hope it helps someone else reading it. Thank you 🙏 Factsverse

This is incredibly sad and also unbelievable. She was put in an institution for having Asperger’s? If she got a degree in seismology as a commenter said, she was a high functioning Asperger’s or maybe she wasn’t one at all. Maybe her mother used that to hide the mental illness. Preemies need to be only children (check) and be given lots of TLC in order to function at their best. A preemie in those days wasn’t touched, it sounds like in this case, for 3 months. It is essential to be held and look into the mother’s eyes (mirroring.) That way a child gets a sense of herself and has good attachment. Absent, probably self-involved (psychopath? AD doesn’t seem to do well with diagnoses) father with many ruptured relationships. Mother who let the child be institutionalized. These two never should have met much less procreate. Angie’s love life high point should have been her affair with JFK and left it at that.

Easy to judge people's lives. But sometimes some deficits from fetal development can cause extremely unstable behaviors making typical parents overwhelmed to live with them. True, I agree, but parents must be active in a child's life. Especially a child with special needs. It wouldn't benefit the child if one of the parents were absent and not willing to help. Also it takes dedication, not jetting off with multiple partners to exotic locations to forget you even had a wife and child. If men can't handle the responsibility maybe they should get a vasectomy and quit screwing every thing in sight.

If true that the mom didn't follow doctor's orders while preggo then it's more reason to require ALL patents have a license with a training program BEFORE raising a child

Brilliant man but what an emotional coward. He doesn't know what the note says and is afraid to find out. It's odd to think that people who had money and the access to the best medical care would have to diagnose their daughter from a magazine article. Sound like Nikki was failed before she was even born.

That is a garbage move to not want to even read you dead daughter's note. Small comfort that he feels some kind of guilt...after the fact. Typical hollyweird crap morality. Kids of actors are so messed up. It never fails.

I've never had any idea of this tragedy. Parenthood is a minefield -- procreation a form of Russian roulette. Children of stars are clearly more prone to suicide than others.

He was a terrible father , there are a lot of fathers that would never do what he did to his daughter ,and the fact that he went through so many woman and married a young woman says a lot about him .

Almost all people in Show Biz have been with many women - and men. Especially in those days - before all the diseases.
