There's a whole documentary. She tricked him into signing that contract. They weren't together when he started dating a younger woman. He didn't want the company to be part of a huge corporation. She flat out lied to get him to sign away his part. She got rich, he was left broken hearted and betrayed. But she never got over what she did. Her adult son admitted it haunted her and she was guilty. Hense the 4 million. Also, he gave her the bigger share because she had a son, he had no kids. He was a true gentleman.

I've tried using chap stick but it burns my skin. Any time I get any form of sunscreen on my face I end up looking like I got a sunburn even if I hadn't been in the sun and they always have spf 15 or so in chapstick. The only brands I can really use are burts bees and carmex. Carmex is better for chapped lips but burts bees I find better for windburn since it leaves that layer of bees wax behind.

I knew the late Burt Shavitz, he was an odd lovable man. His lifestyle was not hippie though, he just was disillusioned with the modern world, if you wanted to put it in a political sense, he was like a Whig from over 150 years ago. His Semi-rustic way of living was his way of finding quiet so he could rest his easily frayed nerves. He was not quick to anger, but much of the hypocritical and polarized nature of the modern world would inrage him. He lived a simple semi-hermetic life in nature so he could just tune out the world and relax him self. You had to meet the man to understand. I'll close this comment with this, Happy trails Burt, you lovable son of a bitch, rest easy man.

@ninja011
@ninja011 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, but I would not call him an inspiration, and he himself would have been annoyed at being called one. He just did things by the beat of his own drum and what made sense to him. He did regret the hurt his sleeping around caused, but he didn't regret the act of it for example. Which always rubbed me the wrong way, but that was Burt. It was not him being uncaring, it was just how he saw life and how he would choose to live it. He was likable, but to make a friend of him was always an uneasy thing. He cared, he just sometimes was to selfish for his own good. Still I owe him, and respected the man, and that is all he really wanted, to be respected. He did more good than harm, and even after him and Roxanne Quimby split after the mess, after the wounds healed, they managed to be comfortable friends, if all be it at times uneasy. She did care about him too. That's why she gave him the cut after the clorox sale. Burt was more often than not a good human being you could not but care about. As I said I owe him, he gave me a job when my old one went bust and was facing homelessness due to lack of income, and he saved me from a flare up of pancreatitis due to my poor health, by getting me to hospital. So yeah, sorry for rambling. Still I couldn't help but contribute with some anecdotes of the man.

My mom and I always call all period pads "Kotex" just because that's what she used growing up, and what she told me they were called when I first started getting my period when I was 11 or 12. I don't even know if I've ever used Kotex brand. Nowadays we use "Always" and lately "Stay Free" during quarantine, yet will consistently say "Oh, put Kotex on the shopping list" or "Can I borrow a Kotex?" Not "a pad" not "an Always" - "a Kotex." No matter what.

Yeah, she was probably extremely pissed when the original deal took place, but by the time he asked for more money, it was a different era in her life. The $4 million would have been less than a quarter's interest at that time, and with that, it was possibly a way to keep him from going public with a stink and relieving any residual guilt. I am more fascinated with where the $4 million went in the time since. It's likely he made other terrible deals or never cared about much money at all. The amount he asked for might have even been significantly lower than $4 million as well. Had he wanted, he could have approached Clorox to hire him as a spokesman. His options were numerous to maintain a prosperous income.

I'm not sure she felt obligated. They had been close, in a relationship. Yes the relationship ended, but it doesn't sound like it ended messy. (I still communicate and share custody of my daughter with my ex husband. ) Perhaps, when Burt asked her for $ she figured, she had it to give, they might still have been friends, and (with the whole hitch hiking story) he had once helped her out in a tight spot. Sergio Navarro The show is about a science teacher who sells meth to pay for his cancer treatment and help his family. Part of the backstory of the protagonist is that he helped start a multibillion dollar business in college, but sold his share before they made it big. His rich college friends were side characters in the show.

2:17 I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert in either cosmetics or chemistry, but I can say that "Petrolatum" is most commonly known as Vaseline, which nobody has ever described as "sketchy."
@SianaGearz
@SianaGearz 6 жыл бұрын
It is completely non-toxic, however it is water repellent, so its use in cosmetics that are supposed to be hydrating is slightly questionable. It produces the feeling of lubrication without actually increasing the moisture content of the skin and can under some circumstances accelerate its decay, particularly when combined with a water emulsion and an emulsifying agent. Finally, there are better alternatives such as lanolin. This consideration does not apply to using pure petrolatum, then you're just creating a barrier layer.

Tara Wink both my mom and my dad do interviews and they both say that if a chick doesn't wear makeup they assume they suck. You don't have to wear it all the time, and I don't, but it's a part of dressing up if you're a women
@tyrroo
@tyrroo 6 жыл бұрын
"are socially required to wear face goo" No, honey, you are NOT "required" to wear face goo. You can choose to be your own woman instead of following the masses: wear comfy shoes instead of heels, wear minimal or zero makeup instead of plastering it on like a Kardashian/drag queen, keep your hair short or braided or pulled back in a ponytail... whatever you want, you can choose it. [Unless you're living in a third-world shithole where women have no rights. But if that's the case, you have far more important things to worry about than whether your makeup is all-natural.]
@Number1hunterhayesfa
@Number1hunterhayesfa 6 жыл бұрын
my opinions are facts That's not a "social requirement", it's your mom or dad passing off judgement and assuming because they (and potentially their co-workers) believe a certain way, that everyone assumes that way and thus bases their hiring grounds on something so shallow. You and your parents really need to step back and evaluate y'alls standards. I hope their hiring models, beauticians, or MUAs because let me tell you if their hiring someone in what I would assume to be an normal work enviorment. If you want to try to guess my skills as an accountant, teacher, or whatever based on how well I blended out my foundation and how even/ straight my winged eyeliner is you are just asking for issues... This is coming from someone who loves doing makeup. Don't be superficial and embrace yourself. Based on my knowledge employers are looking for presentable and professional looking applicants which can be achieved without it.
@myopinionsarefacts
@myopinionsarefacts 6 жыл бұрын
Tara Wink look, I don't normally wear makeup, but if it improves my chances of getting hired, ill put on some lipstick for an interview. I'm not saying this is the way it should be, if fact I think it shouldn't matter, but life isn't fair an it's scientifically a thing that wearing makeup gets you more pay,seem more trust worthy, and seem more professional. I don't know if that's technically socially required,but maybe socially suggested

In relation to the four million she gave him, there's two ways we can look at it: 1. The preventative way - An otherwise un-invested Roxanne saw the potential of both the business and her being becoming destroyed by negative press. So if Bert was denied a share of the money, then the entire company (which relies so much on its public image) would fall apart. 2. The human way - Despite everything that happened between them (an affair and whatever else), Roxanne still loves Bert deeply, and even though he had an affair, she has since forgiven him for any misgivings and a sour past. So to her, she would had given him four million, or more if he asked, as both a sign of mutual understanding and allowing bygones be bygones. They are, probably, spiritual people (not religious necessarily, just a nice open ended and vague spiritual), and something like money is arbitrary when considering their rich history of memories and collaborative growth each other gave. I know, it sounds fantastical, for sure, but that's just my take on the whole thing. Wouldn't it be great if they did a movie about their story? Maybe a dramatic short documentary, like "Jiro Dreams of Sushi?" It's a regular hill billy Romeo and Juliette story if ever I heard one.

Burt. We started talking as we had some similar interests. He said he was working there as it was difficult to find reliable sales help. We chatted a while and I think I came back another to talk some more, but soon after, it closed. I don't know if there were other 'Burt's Bees' stores, as it was the only one I had seen. He was friendly and frank and I would definitely feel comfortable calling him a hippie farmer.

I tried Burt's Bees wax several years back and I regret ever doing it (not because it was bad) it wasn't but since than I've been using lip balm non stop. I've moved to carmex tho and I really like this brand. It seems to absorb into my lips and hydrate (or better yet stop moisture from leaving my lips) every other brand just seems to sit on my lips and just feels weird. Carmex feels more natural to me but I have several brands I use some seem to work better than others.
