My favorite investment book I ever purchased. Even bought the revised, short version.

Thank you for the manually applied Closed Captions. They are great. Most KZbin people let the CC be generated from voice to text, which leaves a lot to be desired. Your attention to detail is appreciated, and I've subscribed as a result.

The US is actually about 56% of the ftse all world index, and that index includes emerging markets as well
@davegiddings25452 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the US is less than 40% of the total world market cap as of the latest statistics. That’s what he was referring to. This was recorded in 2017, however.

Jacky Yau sometimes their right and sometimes their wrong. TA has become a thing like religion that's believed in and protected by the believers. There's a lot of profit in selling a *Trading a system.

Is this book designed for begginer/novices of the stock market? Better yet could a begginer/novice make any use of this book?
@ricomajestic5 жыл бұрын
Yes! It is the first book you should read if you want to invest in the stock market. If you are novice investor you should invest in index funds!

when a stock moves out of the index there is a sale no?
@josephbattaglia36905 жыл бұрын
Idk good question
@joshloschen16535 жыл бұрын
For the S & P yeah but remember he suggested not buying the S & P and instead buying a total market index. For the total market index moving out of the index is much less likely.

Except for the current year S&P 500 index fund (VFIAX) outperforms whole world stock fund VTWSX

But that is only one year, investing is a long term game, decades not months, days, or 1 or 2 years. I understand what you are saying, I've looked at portfolio visualiser, which is a free online backtester. And I realise the past doesn't really predict the future of investments. But the US market does appear to have performed better over many decades than global indexes ex US. But the period from 2000 until 2009, the S&P 500 index produced negative returns for the whole period. And the total US stock index only produced a very small positive return. And it appears certainly in the past that emerging markets haven't really given very good returns. I realise that the Chinese economy for example has been doing way better than other economies and the same with Brazil while back. But the performance of economies doesn't appear to produce good stock market returns. They say the economy is not the stock market, and the stock market is not the economy. So I'm not convinced about emerging markets. But I guess just like John Bogle said nobody really knows anything regarding the stock markets. No one has a crystal ball. So I guess being well diversified makes some sense. If I was a US investor I might have some exposure to ex US markets
