You can't decide if he's a genius or not based on YOUR musical taste. Also, "as a musician he's not very talented"... I'm assuming that you made a reference to the fact that the instruments don't sound good enough or "talented". Isn't that the point of Burzum? Everything is supposed to sound "bad". I feel like you're saying that if he was really talented then there would be more technicality in his songs but that's just not true. Coming to this music after a lifetime of rock and metal, but never hearing this. Amazingly, it still sounds as if it could have been recorded yesterday. Could be a brand-new release, rather than one of the originals. There's definitely something special and magical here. Only the really good stuff ages like this.

The rumor I heard is that Varg actually lit his hair on fire and doused himself with kerosene before each verse, which he sang outside beneath a rain-water catch shower to extinguish himself before he succumbed to the flames, but he never checked the level of water before beginning the process just to make sure he had his edge on.
