The MMDA continue with their efforts to enforce the exclusive bus lane on EDSA. There are rumors that the penalty for misusing the EDSA busway will soon be increased. Hopefully this move won't be opposed.

When we visited Manila, we went to Batangas and on way home we took the city streets. OMG. We almost collided with motorcycles and tricycles without front or rear lights 100 times. Motorcycles ride the lane making it difficult for our van to pass. Cars and trucks running the yellow lights blocking the intersection. In Lipa City, it took us 30 minutes to clear this one intersection. It's lawless, or there is no enforcement outside of Metro Manila. I encourage you to ask your team to visit outside metro manila. But be careful. Drive with extreme caution. I mean, our van had to swerve out of overtaking Commercial trucks, busses , cars so many times. A majority on blind corners. I just don't understand the Philippines. Intersections don't have signages to tell drivers which lanes to take. Everybody just cuts everyone off.

Bigger budget for more enforcers should not be a problem with the number of tickets they are writing, 1 ticket per enforcer per day should cover their salary. Any enforcer who can't find at least 1 violation daily in the Philippines would have to be blind. 🤷♂
@GadgetAddict10 ай бұрын
That's the thing.. with most enforcers earning around P500 per day, they only have to issue a single ticket to cover their salary for the day. Anything beyond that is extra that goes to the national treasury. But regardless of the penalties / tickets, having extra enforcers on the road helps to keep discipline and order. That reduction in bad behavior can improve traffic, reduce accidents etc. On paper, it seems simple. But ultimately they have to work within whatever budget they can get approved. Considering it's often less than what they requested, I can't imagine we're going to see any major increase in manpower 🤷♂️
