I really enjoyed this video...thanks for posting it. I lived in Southampton from the age of 3 until I was 21. Seeing the 17a made me very nostalgic when I thought about all those trips home to millbrook after a night out in town.

+Tony Wille Thank you very much glad you enjoyed watching the buses of times past in my video, I used to catch the no 5 from Millbrook and take the long route round to Woolston and ride the Floating Bridge back and forth then catch the bus back to Millbrook again great days they were.

What a nice video. As someone who wrote the original article it's fantastic to see people get involved and get on the buses. I hope they do this again in the future. Also nice to see people keeping certain things that made Southampton what it is alive. Kind regards Michael Carr (Daily Echo reporter)

Michael, many thanks for your very kind comments about my video, I also hope they do another bus running day as I enjoyed watching these old timers strut their stuff back on the roads of Southampton.

Wrong area of London. :-D These trains were between Wembley & Amersham. The last of the DCEs is tomorrow, though the times are different. The outward run is at Southampton Central at 13:30 and the return is around 19:30.

I only knew about it when I read the local paper a couple of days before the event. I have seen your clip of when you were in London about the running of a steam loco on the overground railway at Wimbledon nice one :) Steve

Thanks Dave, the old Bournemouth buses engine sounds quite throaty I thought.

I realised afterwards I replied with the wrong area of London, I knew it was one of the W's. Yes last of DCE tomorrow, not sure where I shall be to see 'Cromwell' pass through.

Why did the green Bristol at the beginning have a London Transport symbol on the radiator (and a LT garage code on the side)?!
@SteveCarrett11 жыл бұрын
Sorry but I do not have the answer to this question but it is a very good point as you spotted it, I was just there to video these old buses, perhaps someone else might know the reason why.

There is not a garage code "PT" for LT however.. Look here... www.bristolsu.co.uk/k/operatordetails/hantsanddorset/hlj44.htm ...and you will that it was on loan to LT in February 1949 and based at Amersham. That is as good as it gets.

Yes some of these cyclists take no notice of traffic lights and they are the ones to complain if they are involved in an accident and blame the motorist, I see many a cyclist go through a red light even yesterday when I was out it happened and I gave a shout to him he took no notice of me and carried on cycling.

Nice recording, isn't it amazing how many cyclists don't feel the need to comply with the RTA unless it happens to suite them!
