[Bus] Perth Explorer MCW Metrobus OpenTop (Ex-CMB)

Finding an active MCW Metrobus is rare nowadays. Seeing one in real-life sure is amazing.
The Perth Explorer MCW Metrobus runs within the Perth CBD, taking tourist on a vintage bus ride around town.
Formerly a China Motor Bus unit, it was shipped from Hong Kong in the 2000s, where it became an open-top sightseeing bus in some major Australian cities such as Sydney, Perth and Darwin.
In the present day, only Perth has an active MCW running regularly and it was my great fortune to spot this one in action whilst on a transportation adventure in Western Australia.
Enjoy this retro 1980s legend that once ruled the streets of Hong Kong.

Saw these all the time in Sydney up to about 2014 when Chinese made replacements were taking over city sightseeing duties. NSW wouldn't approve Gardner engines which were deemed too polluting, so euro 5 and later 6 compliant engines were fitted. My first metrobus rides were in London in 1999. My next Metrobus ride was 18 years later on Australia Day in ML1.

It was a great find while I was holidaying in Perth then. Really hope to catch more vintage buses in Australia soon. The Sydney Bus Museum has a solid collection that I admire and hope to ride on soon, especially ME30 the former KMB MB O305

@@tintinspartan got to ride that for a couple of blocks in Sydney CBD. Very interesting visually, but sounds a bit clapped out. Mercedes Benz 0305s have very stressed drive lines due to the torque. MANs of the same period a better in that way. I rode the Olympian. That was nice also but the Voith retarder did not work. ML1 was simply superb both accelerating and stopping!!!

@@tintinspartan Oh, thanks. IIRC Both buses are Ankai HFF6121GS-3's now.
