Bus Running numbers explained

Big garage like that, a shadow of its former operations, 107, 317, 217b 217, 259 - People move to London and Enfield especially and cause so much headache on our streets that TfL slowly over the years has cut the buses and now the area is not like how I knew it growing up. Not to take away from this video Peter! Great to know all this as I worked at a garage and learnt a lot.

TfL have really killed the job over the past few years, it's not like it was when I started back in 86, which is a shame.

I can't believe you guys still use modules like we did when the Wayfarer machines were still going up in Glasgow and I miss those, nice and simple. First Glasgow had the same method for running numbers and stuff, a lot more complicated but fun.

How are specific vechile allocated?

Only by type - the shunters have a plan of the garage of where to park certain bus types so they go out in the morning without blocking in the buses behind, so they will always be some DWs Ts ENs ENXs etc at the front of each 'line'. Running plates are then put on the side. It doesn't matter which DW goes on which running number for the 121, so long as it's a DW or a T if short of DWs.

Hi Pete just to let you know that after watching your tutorials on whats involved l have changed my mind about becoming a bus driver it took me long enough to work out what the A & B buttons were on the old telephone boxes so there is no way l could take that lot on board , so after 33 years you may as well carry on solo until the end of the road . Ps- Love the voice and the way you explain everything though .
