Joe, bus stops DO change visually when you upgrade them. Level 1/2 is a bench, level 3 is a basic shelter, level 4 is a fancier shelter, level 5+ is that weird tent-looking thing. Demand works in the background, a zero-demand route will generate no income, but the 'driven route' is completely separate. I guess the designers thought it would be no fun if you drove round an empty bus. The shaded grey area in the timetable window shows a representation of demand (red for peak routes). Peak routes add extra income, and because there are only three possible peak time slot configs, you can interwork buses between routes. For example, a bus can do the morning/evening rush on a route peaking then, but then do the lunchtime peak on another route. Also, if you look at the screenshots, the transit terminal was supposed to have bus stops in those bypass lanes (maybe they were causing problems so had to be removed, I know the entrance/exit to those is really tight, maybe AI couldn't deal with it). If you explore it further, you'll see some sub-level platforms as well, and an unused bus depot on the basement level. I think this is supposed to represent the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco (although that's in the Market area of SF, not in Oakland)... so maybe with the map extension, there will be a subterranean link? The TBT is a rail hub, after all.

I've been around sunkiss THREE times to get it to level 3, when it finally completed it somehow hit level 4. Now all I need to do is find a route that peaks at noon and drive it in ten mins

At Christmas when I have enough money I will get bus sim 21 and put it in sandbox mode and I just drive the Scalia citywide all day long!

One question, like in Omsi2, does the degrees of max rotation in the bus change for each bus. For example, in the Enviro400 from Omsi, the wheel does more rotations than in the 9.7m street lite. I know it’s kinda confusing but oh well.
