Buses of Wales 2022-Llandudno with Arriva & Transport Festival Heritage Bus Service

It's the May Day Bank Holiday Monday and i'm in Llandudno to visit the Transport Festival. On this upload we see the local Arriva services on routes 5 & 12 plus the Alpine Conwy Sightseeing Tour bus & the odd visiting coach alongside the heritage vehicles on the free bus service between the Transport Festival on Bodarfon Fields and the Victorian Extravaganza in the town centre. On this service were 2 London Transport Routemaster's, a Bristol KSW, an Olympian, an ex West Midlands Metrobus, a Stockport Leyland, a Merseybus Atlantean, a Stagecoach Ribble Dennis Javelin and a Crosville Bristol LH in use as a marshall vehicle. Don't care what anyone says, or argues the case for modernity and progression, Routemasters should never have been taken off the streets of London. They don't even operate the 15 Heritage Route anymore. The modern equivalents are just not the same. My opinion, solely!!

Yeah well they couldn't be kept on permanently. We should be grateful they lasted as long as they did. They were an overtly vintage vehicle with advanced underpinnings its saving grace. Maybe modern engines were a tribute to that, even if they didn't sound as nice as the old AEC and Leyland motors.

Well, things from all over the place thee there: LT, Merseyside, Bristol, Stagecoach, the one thing there didn't seem to be was Crosville. I must say I'm rather taken with RM40; that's in nice working condition that looks just right.

The Bristol LH was ex Crosville bus wasn't on service, it was in use by the Festival organisesrs. RM40 is looking a little shabby now unlike the pic at the top of my home page......

Frustrating video, they were just dawdling and couldn't hear them take off hard. Traffic looked hectic and didn't really allow it. Modern car shapes ruin street scenery these days with their computerised designs. The opposite of romantic. Only the Bristol at the end got a good wind up.

Some heritage drivers are very careful with their driving and Arriva have special boxes in the cab to check on the drivers. If you throttle up in any way more than a tickle if shows red lights and gets recorded, same for braking. Hence the very sedate driving these days..... There are more vids to come from this day inc a ride inside the ex West Mids Metrobus and a couple of Routemaster cab driving views, i tend to give a good service drive so you may like those more.....

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus Look forward to seeing those. The mark 2 metrobus and RM with it's AEC were tantalising. Was hoping for a ride in the metro.
