Wow. That was one gummed-up radiator. I love that Scott takes a test ride with his customers. That shows faith in his work, and a willingness to truly dial-in any outstanding problems that might still be lurking with the buses. That's the kind of personal service that is needed to know that a bus has been properly serviced.

Thats one of those repairs where you finally just get it done and you're amazed at how the vehicle rides and drives. Then you realize that you had forgotten how nice it was when you first bought it.

I am glad that they didn't let the bus over heat. That radiator core was plugged solid. Sure is in good shape now. Excellent fixes and its safe and reliable for the owners. Wicked nice looking bus they have. It's nice to know they are driving it to dream destinations without problems.

We parked next to a mid 80 Newell 2 years ago. That owner remodeled the whole coach. Pre wide body era. Narrow but easier to navigate. Then I saw one like this in Kansas. 17,000$ and told it drive anywhere. I didn’t believe that for a second and I heard the new owner made it 300 miles till something stopped it. You did good like always and I’m sure they will have the coach they dreamed of when they bought it, now. Fair seas and may the wind be at your back.

He really needs to lock that transmission in low gear climbing that steep driveway. Really should be manually shifting those heavy duty automatics to keep them in their “gear range” during regular driving as well. Saves the transmission and saves the engine.

Surprised how little i heard the turbo. Did this bus get a tune up, valve adjustment, exhaust path sealing, or confirmed throttle position can reach 100% ? Hmmm, all these different looking older buses, and yet they all sound the same ...does a specialist live near by ? :o... what some of the town might be thinking

A radiator in the rear. Please comment on that. I had a Dutch Star with a radiator on the left side like a 4106. You don’t see modern buses built that way, but motorhomes of that era seemed to have that option. Don’t rear radiators suffer from more dirt, and poor circulation?

Without going through all your videos could I ask if there is one or more brands to just stay away from entirely, either because they were poor build quality, parts are NLA or other major issue? I've been thinking of a vintage bus 70s - early 90's maybe.
@hotpuppy1
@hotpuppy1 Жыл бұрын
Proper maintenance is the issue with all makes though it looks like MCI has more rust than others if driven in the salt belt a lot during their working life. The frames of the body were mild steel square tubing. Spend the money for a good inspection by someone actually qualified to inspect a bus. Don't buy a bus unless you have the thousands of $ to spend to fix all the deferred stuff that wasn't fixed or fixed right.
@Blazer02LS
@Blazer02LS Жыл бұрын
@@hotpuppy1 Being in NY I'm used to rust but don't really want to replace 1/2 the steel in a rig along with other repairs. I'm used to working on fire equipment and one of the things there is that they will use some odd part that the supplier had 200 on the rack and when you need a replacement they no longer exist. I ended up making a complete gauge package for one engine when the fully integrated pump display failed and the company that made it no longer exists!
