After a busy couple of months getting the FV4005 Finished for Tank Fest Its finally time to get back to all the other ongoing projects we had to put to one side.
But sadly the first job was to fix the poorly Bentley.
Huge Thanks to Flying Spares for all the parts we needed.
If you own a Classic Rolls Royce or Bentley be sure to look them up for parts.

I would recommend having the chassis checked for integrity as the vehicle has inevitably spent an inordinate amount of time towing caravans and speedboats to / from television studio. Better to be safe than sorry 👍

I suggest you fab a thin sheet metal wrap around the frame and the oil line. This could eliminate those tie wraps but secure and protect the hose. I bet the car rides better too. Cheers

Sympathy from the USA! In my younger years I worked on some UK cars, LR model 109 (parts are hell to get), MG As and I found out with some friends that the best way (almost the only) to get the motor out of a bugeye Sprite was to have a really big, strong guy straddle the engine bay and grab the loosened motor while the rest of us scrambled to secure it when he stood up straight. Don't even ask me about how you had to rebalance the carbs after changing the spark plugs on a Lotus Europa and then go to a chiropractor for the rest of your life because you had to dangle yourself upside down/sideways to get to the engine bay. Tanks must be a lot calmer to work on.

I work for several years, restoring British cars in America. One of the jokes we always had were Rolls-Royce which is Bentley are designed by six-year-old school kids with no concept of a vehicle. Especially the brake and hydraulic suspension systems. That one you’ve got there is no exception. It has front springs bigger than my 1988 Ford F350 Dually has in the front. it has a 5000 pound GVW front axle in it. That is an appropriate car for you kid, It’s built like a tank.

10/10 for effort Joe. I can imagine the oil feed pipe was a telephone number as it's a Bentley. Only thing I would have done as temp measure, was put hose protector wire around the front bit where tyre might rub. (Hydraulic) Now back to normal panic mode with everything still to do.

i had a similar issue with an oil cooler pipe years and years ago - the vehicle which i won't say what it was coz your laugh and make me feel even sillier, had an odd pipe that was no longer available and if it was, was probably only available on Mars or somewhere, but my friend who happened to be a plumber come gas fitter went (in a Joe accent) 'Oh that's a BSP fitting i think' checked it and was spot on, so off i went to my local plumber gas retail therapy store, they got a spare parts section downstairs, and the nice chap their disappeared with my sample pipe and came back with one exactly the same, complete with the end banjos as well, bonkers, and i think it cost me about £12, so i bought a handful and of course made some profit on them as you do PS trust Jack to break the spring on the Roller, do we ask what he was doing at the time? anyway - love you

We bought rear discs for the Boss's 70's Shadow and then tried separating them off the hubs...... went to local Commercial Vehicle workshop to use their 1" Air gun to get the nuts off....... didn't even touch it. Ended up buying to complete hub assemblies with the discs from Flying Spares. Just over a grand for the pair (one side was more expensive than the other which was weird) and the discs alone were something like £650+.

Joe, you should try rust converter, I swear by the stuff (bloody hell - see!!). It's water based and chemically converts the oxide layer into a hard protective coating. Just remove all the loose stuff first, as you did on the Bentley, then spray or brush it on, thinning with water as required.
