My experience with Jade is to NEVER plant before the soil is 75*F which is typically mid-August here in TN Z7. Germination is super fast and beans produce early as well. I plant in a 3x18ft raised bed and yield minimum 18-20 quarts. And as backup plant Jade in Greenstalk original - 2 seeds per pocket and those 40 plants are close in yield to the raised bed. I keep GreenStalk planters in polytunnel that has a 40% black shade cloth and use a fan for circulation that keeps 3 planters happy in our heat (beans, onions/shallots and strawberries). I found the key to Greenstalk is Promix soilless grow medium to keep roots health and not wet and liquid fertilizers in morning water at weak dilution then late afternoon plain water mainly to cool off the plants. I water only with rainwater. I also find picking Jade at younger 4-5in beans also is a way to keep the stress under control.

Thank you for your videos. I have two questions. What do you amend your soil mix with at the start, and do you fertilize during their growth and production period?

Question? I plan to buy more green stalk planters next time on sale. Do you find you grow more in the leaf planter or the larger? Thanks

Your instruction is an enormous blessing to me. This is my first garden and I enjoy your videos.

I’ve had a similar experience. Not only with beans but with most things I’d planted in my raised bed. I duplicated what I’d planted in the bed in the greenstalk where almost everything I planted took off while the raised bed plants are struggling. So glad I got the greenstalks this year. Still figuring them out (I have both the original and the leaf) and look forward to doing more experiments and, hopefully, good harvests.

I planted Provider in my GreenStalk this mid-May. I have a feeling they’re going to struggle in the Georgia heat, but they sure are taking off so far. I planted them less than a week ago and they’re already 6-8 inches tall.

I planted a fall crop of bush beans in the middle week of Aug and just now starting to harvest some beans. Had a frost threat last night so I just covered the beans and they did fine. First year putting in a late crop of beans, like you, I was amazed how quickly they took off and how well they are producing. I've been looking for a new variety of bush beans, will try the jade bush beans next year. Enjoy your videos.

Awesome! How many jade bush bean plants did you grow in each cell of the greenstalk? 42 cells = 42 plants or 2x per cell and 84 plants? Also, did you direct sow into the greenstalk or did you start them in a tray? Thank you!
@thebeginnersgarden Жыл бұрын
3 seeds per pocket and I direct sowed.

I tried six times! The plants burned every time, both pole and bush. I did get 7 green beans from my last planting. This was my first time planting green beans and it was so discouraging!

I'm so sorry to hear that! You might try asparagus beans (chinese noodle beans). They are very heat tolerant and beautiful. I don't love the texture when they're canned (which is how we eat green beans), but if you eat them fresh, you may enjoy them.
@zinadavis55332 жыл бұрын
@@thebeginnersgarden I also can mine. The Farmer’s markets here in Oklahoma City also did not have green beans the last two years. I had to purchase them from Sam’s for canning. I will try the variety that you suggested for fresh eating. Thank you.

Thank you for giving details on your greenstalk bean harvests! Can you please tell me what zone you are in? And how often and how much did you fertilize them (what did you use also please)?

This video has been very helpful. I just purchased my Greenstalk. I’m trying to figure what and how many things I can plant in them. How many tiers or pockets of green beans did you plant in the Greenstalk to get the 10 pints in the second planting?

100 degrees is a normal summer here in Australia we get about 70 days about 100 degrees and we grow vegetables without any problems
@tarabooartarmy3654 Жыл бұрын
Vegetables will eventually acclimate to a climate over numerous generations if you save seeds, so it’s possible to get vegetables that are much more heat-tolerant just by planting them in a hot climate and saving the seeds to plant again the next year. Over the years, they will gradually be able to tolerate the heat better. I’m sure many of the seeds being sold in Australia are acclimated to the climate. That’s why it’s good to find a local source of seeds that you know were raised locally.

So your saying 18 pints from the GreenStalk (never mentioning how many more pints you got from your harvest that wasn’t GreenStalk) was enough to get you through until the next growing season ..I call that BS..what I see is you promoting a product more then anything else..I’ve watched 4-videos of yours(your welcome) so far and each one you are acting as if your a celebrity..you get less then 20 comments from the videos I watched never acknowledging only but one of the comments instead of acknowledging *ALL* the comments..Something for you to think about …..be yourself…..the constant promoting so far 2-different products in the 4-videos I have watched makes me want to click off..and acknowledge your commenters..

Wow, that sure is unkind of you. Everyone else, including me, finds that her videos are extremely helpful and kind. AND they are free. You don't have to be so bitter, just click off and move on to someone else that tickles your fancy. No need to criticize this sweet woman who is taking the time to document her experiences in video form in order to help others.

I always look for the video of harvest showing yields. If there aren't any I typically consider the info with a grain of salt. I watch many garden videos always looking for tips or new approaches - not all are believable.

@@tulipsmoran5197~I loathe dishonest people especially that have YT channel..I still don’t believe the harvest that she had gotten-why not show the proof but so many people are just plain gullible especially to the people that have a channel..they act as if they are a God or of a higher power..lol..
