Very sad song. 😢😔 This song shows that the being wants someone to play with them, but nobody wants to be around him. Whenever he's in his house, the whole town goes outside, and when he goes outside, everyone goes indoors. 2:35 I can definitely tell the being's beautiful hazel eyes are swelling with tears. He's basically treated like a virus that everyone is afraid of.

1. This is a cropped version of the real song. At 3:29 you can hear the abrupt cut. The real song is about 6:00 and on KZbin. This still does a decent job capturing it though. 2. If you love this song you’ll definitely love Warm Machine, to me they are sister songs and among my absolute lifetime top favorites.

Haven't heard this song in so long..... damn..... I can remember drinking vodka for the first time with my girlfriends and blasting this song and screaming it..... my dad had just left us and I didn't know where he was.... 14 and so hurt and angry..... mom knocked up by some rando from her alcoholics anonymous class (you can guess how the whole sobriety thing was going....) this song and pretty much every Bush song was my therapy. Moshing at the concerts, just screaming and connecting and feeling his angst and anger it made me know I wasn't alone. Music kept me from losing my virginity too soon, drinking too much, smoking too much. We just raged so hard and I had no idea until just now that this probably saved me from carrying all that toxic anger and hate and hurt into my 20's. I was very happy when I finally struck out away from all the BS and family drama and still love my solitude and my friends and still bang to the bangers. 💝🥰🙏🏼 Much love to you Gavin 🙏🏼🥰💝 now I am a mom, not an alcoholic but sober by choice so my kids don't think drinking/smoking is something you have to do or that everyone does. And this music is tripping me all the way back. So much love 💝💝💝

Wow G! Out of all the times I've seen you guys I'm at a loss that Cold Contagious has never been played in my presence 😔. I truly love and appreciate this song, not only for the darkness and the loss that it has represented, but the fact that it has a light in the verses of 'deeply grounded and better off by the way' which is 100% truth. The last time I saw you at VIP it was sweating balls in Louisville KY @ 4th Street and ppl passing out from the heat. It had been 109° all day long and was humid as hell. I hydrated all week for that day, I wasn't going down. Still love my BUSH and me pics, all time favorite band! Always all about the Cold Contagious, it lives in me. 😉

Back when I was younger--and more sad/angry--this song spoke to me deeply. To me it's about shitty parents who leave their kids to fend for themselves emotionally, physically, raising themselves while their parents never take any real responsibility for their own choices and actions. Since Gavin's lyrics are usually cryptic, they leave a lot of interp to the listener. Great song. Amazing guitar tone. Haunting. The crowd shots don't fit to the music IMHO. This is a dark Grunge era song made for Gen-X "You have no right to cut me down, you were never that around" Ouch. The "contagious" he's talking about in my mind is the intergenerational damage passed down from parents to children. Until someone finally does the work to address it, the contagion will be passed down forever.
