Working in the woods especially when you know what you’re doing is very peaceful. I’m learning the business right now. Working for a guy with ~8 years of experience. Knows what he’s doing so it’s cool to be around that. A lot of dirt work around houses, Mulching jobs, we’ve got some pond projects coming up. I’m starting to get self sufficient where I can just show up on a job and know what I’m doing. Going to hang around and learn as much as I can about it then probably take off on my own and start running the show. Love equipment, love the business side of it. Logistics behind hauling, maintenance, keeping everything fueled. It’s great. Love the videos too. Always learning from them.

I have been doing some jobs on the side here, i have a new 2024 Kubota 4x4 tractor. when i retire maybe next year i want to do more of this fixing driveways bush hoggin and more. your right a tractor is faster but it will get you in trouble. I'm in Tennessee and we have some steep hills also here. I have been charging 75 dollars a hour to bush hog and 50 dollar a hour for dirt work and driveways. im thinking i need to up my price a bit. as always good video Tod! yall stay safe !

Go to your county agriculture federal office. One they will give you a list of off road diesel suppliers in your area. No road tax. Two is ask them about federal ag land programs in your area that offer brush control assistance to rural land owners. Free client list

I wouldn't buy off road diesel from a station. I would get it bulk from an actual fuel distributor. Same with my on road. Cheaper and easier for tax purposes since you can write off your fuel.

Is that a Blue Diamond? That’s why it don’t get bogged down? If not, then what is it? How long should we run with a Chinese equipment before moving over to the Blue Diamond? Another way to ask… how many x months of making a steady x amount of money should we be making before thinking about investing in the blue diamond?

It’s a Cat brand mower. I would go ahead and buy a good brand first thing. It’ll be easier to sell if you don’t use it enough
@mikel95672 ай бұрын
I will say this about the pickup truck argument, a lot of the newer trucks are coming with engine brakes on them. I know GM is and I believe so is Ford. If you spec the truck out correctly you can get a truck that will pull better and be cheaper than that dump truck. I'm guess you probably didn't spec out your truck judging by the problems you had with the brakes and what not, that isn't normal. I live and work in WA and our mountains here will make your mountains look like speed bumps. So I'm used to hauling and working in mountainous terrain. Diesel prices are just under $5 a gallon where I'm at and so I would rather haul with a pick up than a large dump truck. That being said, I got no issues with hauling with a dump truck. At the end of the day it comes down to money and what makes more sense financially. It makes zero sense to fire up a large dump truck to haul a skid steer out to the job site if all you're doing is brush hogging. So yeah, I think there is a real issue with dump truck vs pick up, but it isn't about brand loyalty. It should be strictly a business decision.

With mowing open areas do you need a skid steer or would your tractor and attachment do larger areas with less gas. Not really sure since Im new to that part of it. Thank you, nice job and content.

If it’s not too steep a tractor is much more economical

What are your thoughts on the skid loader vs tractor brush hog/mower. I have thought about one for the bobcat but they seem painfully slow. I can get way more done I believe with the 7’ mower/ hog and tractor. Plus fuel usage is way more in a skid loader. Are there any advantages of a skid loader with brush cutter in a field like this. I’m guessing this is prob too steep for a tractor correct ? It sure looks like it. Thanks. Dave.
@DigginLife212 ай бұрын
Tractor is faster until you get to steep uneven ground or really heavy stuff. That’s when the Skidsteer begins to shine

I don’t know what size rearends you got in that Mack but I had a truck about identical it had the 58 Mack rearends I hauled 38 to 45 ton everyday of coal in Grundy Va only had one rearend go out that should be a real good truck to pull your equipment around a lot better than a pickup

Haha. I love all the brand loyal idiots swear their trucks get 20mpg with a trailer that weighs 8k and a 15l mini ex in the “mountains”. Unless a person is in your area or the coalfields of va,ky,wv or the Rockies they don’t know what mountains are. There are places I go that we don’t even get above second gear in a pickup. I’m calling low in a 6speed first gear and what’s labeled 1st second gear. Also any gooseneck trailer over 30 is too big unless you are used to these mountains. A dump truck or a tandem flatbed are the smart move for the reasons you stated. My 2 ton non cdl international was only 180 hp and would out pull my new 6.7 all day long when I had it.
