The only time I saw snow in Papua New Guinea was when one of our dorm parents took us on a 22 day hike up Mt,. Micheal. We only made it 11,000 feet in our shorts and tee shirts, but saw the peak with snow on it. I think the peak is 15k+ plus. That was back in the 70’s so... I still think of PNG almost every day.

Dave Hallier hello, I do know what you mean. Imagine being first officer in a B720, had a British license , then a medical screwed up my life , but then I went into REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING, which afforded me a great life , I have 2badds in a book, NY AIR DC9 & PEOPLE EXPRESS both were for pilots & first officers , I would have had to take a whopping 60% pay cut to take any of those , the ONLY continent not visited, or dived is ANTANTICARA , but @ 79 yo, it will stay , what did you do after being SEPERATED from your cockpit ? God Bless, and stay well, Cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I was a mechanic b4 commercial pilot, the 80’s killed it, no jobs in Canada then, morphed into sales, finance, then IT Forensics, teaching, then full circle back trying to work again commercially in aviation cuz we are short pilots here, Transport Canada made me wait out going off a prescription until COVID hit us all, thus pilot laying off again! Personally, I take this as a sign from Above. Ryan herein is the new idea... it’s a younger man’s game now!

Hi Ryan, Lovely flight in the rarefied atmosphere of the Southern and Western highlands. The light dusting of snow over Hagen was indeed interesting to see . The highlands highway over Daulo is an unmistakeable landmark and it was a lovely day to fly.Continue to enjoy the ruggedness of this part of the world from aloft and safely on your trail bike as well. The latter adventure would have been unheard of in the recent past as you ran the risk of not only losing the bike to opportunists but your attire as well. You must choose your route carefully . Kind regards, Michael Sales

Here are the coordinates of the departure bush strip and I am in touch with CASA PNG for details of the strip so that it can be made as a flyable scenery in MSFS. As mentioned in a previous post, the airstrip is kind of there in the game but no selectable and has terrain/elevation issues, definitely needs some terrain adjustments as the "runway" is full of humps and the trees are too tall right next to the runway. The GPS coordinates of the field: 5°07'34"S 142°49'22"E

I am also hoping either a 3rd party developer or a community member will model the Kodiak. With the beauty and accuracy of the world, and with a fantastic committed, expansive fanbase, there are so many talented people out there, it won't be long before this great aircraft and more of PNG's unique airstrips become available. Will keep spreading the word, Ryan, because for bush pilot enthusiasts, it doesn't get much better than your videos. Thanks and as always, fly safe.

Saving a tiny bit on each flight can really add up. Assuming they have more than one plane if you figure only 10 gallons saved per plane per day for just two planes that is 20 gallons per day and if we assume 250 days flying per year that is 5,000 gallons saved. If we assume $4.25/gallon they would save over $21,000/year. That ain't nothing. Granted that is a lot of averaging things out so it may be more or less but it illustrates the idea that saving just a few gallons here and there can make a real difference.

Superb videos. And you really fly that Kodak like driving the Chevy for a quart of milk. One small observation: English may not be the controllers native language. You talk pretty fast, and actually I have trouble understanding your radio comm. I’ve been flying for more years than I will admit to... I’m just wondering if it would help the super helpful controllers if you took it down a notch? The frequency isn’t that busy and there is always time for “good morning Mandan approach, this is Kodak XYZ IFR at 15,000 feet”. I even like to know their names, maybe even where they are from, how long they’ve been at that position, so I sort of get to know them as well. That’s just me, an old timer from California and the west, northwest, now Gulf Coast. Keep up the great work. Rock
