The only time I saw snow in Papua New Guinea was when one of our dorm parents took us on a 22 day hike up Mt,. Micheal. We only made it 11,000 feet in our shorts and tee shirts, but saw the peak with snow on it. I think the peak is 15k+ plus. That was back in the 70’s so... I still think of PNG almost every day.

Before your channel, I had to wait until the end of the year before going on a '67 to fly back to PNG and then jump in a Twin Otter for the hour flight up to Kerema from Moresby. I would love the flight between POM & KMA more than the flight from BNE to POM. With what your doing Ryan, I can feel all that joy and excitement of bush flying with every post you make. Thank you Ryan, your videos make my day.

Just got FS 2020 (9 hour download) I saw the Caravan and thought it looked a lot like the Kodiak. Too bad I only flew PA28's I know nothing about turbo's but flew a few approaches . Guess I will have to read up on flying turboprop variable pitch aircraft. Just as I type this you mentioned how similar the caravan is to the Kodiak.

Thanks Ryan, nice flight, nice to see you around the Hagen &Sepia regions, brings back memories. I have seen snow on MT Giluwe( 14300 ft &MT Wilhelm 14700ft). Never saw snow in the air, the old C172 would run out of puff at around 10,- 11000 ft. Glad I found your site on U Tube, keep up the good work.

I’m so so envious Ryan, Now retired at 63, medical caught up to me, your videos are so well done I can reminisce my twenties flying Grumman goose, King Air, and Navajos all over west coast of beautiful British Columbia and Bahamas, Jamaica etc. I think your videos have gone a long way to check me out on the Kodak’s hahaha! I wish we had this type of equipment back when I was your age... I love Foreflight too, but thrilling how you couple old and new school aviating in such remote bush areas.

Dave Hallier hello, I do know what you mean. Imagine being first officer in a B720, had a British license , then a medical screwed up my life , but then I went into REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING, which afforded me a great life , I have 2badds in a book, NY AIR DC9 & PEOPLE EXPRESS both were for pilots & first officers , I would have had to take a whopping 60% pay cut to take any of those , the ONLY continent not visited, or dived is ANTANTICARA , but @ 79 yo, it will stay , what did you do after being SEPERATED from your cockpit ? God Bless, and stay well, Cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I was a mechanic b4 commercial pilot, the 80’s killed it, no jobs in Canada then, morphed into sales, finance, then IT Forensics, teaching, then full circle back trying to work again commercially in aviation cuz we are short pilots here, Transport Canada made me wait out going off a prescription until COVID hit us all, thus pilot laying off again! Personally, I take this as a sign from Above. Ryan herein is the new idea... it’s a younger man’s game now!

Hi Ryan, Lovely flight in the rarefied atmosphere of the Southern and Western highlands. The light dusting of snow over Hagen was indeed interesting to see . The highlands highway over Daulo is an unmistakeable landmark and it was a lovely day to fly.Continue to enjoy the ruggedness of this part of the world from aloft and safely on your trail bike as well. The latter adventure would have been unheard of in the recent past as you ran the risk of not only losing the bike to opportunists but your attire as well. You must choose your route carefully . Kind regards, Michael Sales

Here are the coordinates of the departure bush strip and I am in touch with CASA PNG for details of the strip so that it can be made as a flyable scenery in MSFS. As mentioned in a previous post, the airstrip is kind of there in the game but no selectable and has terrain/elevation issues, definitely needs some terrain adjustments as the "runway" is full of humps and the trees are too tall right next to the runway. The GPS coordinates of the field: 5°07'34"S 142°49'22"E

Another excellent video! I'm a full time software developer and I just started looking into the msfs2020 sdk. The first thing I noticed was that the cessna caravan seems a little underpowered. Nice work as always - love this kind of flying. Several times I have mentioned your videos, flights, and your wonderful plane during a weekly podcast my buddy and I do, on the Official MSFS Discord. I am also hoping either a 3rd party developer or a community member will model the Kodiak. With the beauty and accuracy of the world, and with a fantastic committed, expansive fanbase, there are so many talented people out there, it won't be long before this great aircraft and more of PNG's unique airstrips become available. Will keep spreading the word, Ryan, because for bush pilot enthusiasts, it doesn't get much better than your videos. Thanks and as always, fly safe.

Saving a tiny bit on each flight can really add up. Assuming they have more than one plane if you figure only 10 gallons saved per plane per day for just two planes that is 20 gallons per day and if we assume 250 days flying per year that is 5,000 gallons saved. If we assume $4.25/gallon they would save over $21,000/year. That ain't nothing. Granted that is a lot of averaging things out so it may be more or less but it illustrates the idea that saving just a few gallons here and there can make a real difference.

Superb videos. And you really fly that Kodak like driving the Chevy for a quart of milk. One small observation: English may not be the controllers native language. You talk pretty fast, and actually I have trouble understanding your radio comm. I’ve been flying for more years than I will admit to... I’m just wondering if it would help the super helpful controllers if you took it down a notch? The frequency isn’t that busy and there is always time for “good morning Mandan approach, this is Kodak XYZ IFR at 15,000 feet”. I even like to know their names, maybe even where they are from, how long they’ve been at that position, so I sort of get to know them as well. That’s just me, an old timer from California and the west, northwest, now Gulf Coast. Keep up the great work. Rock

@@MissionaryBushPilot Thanks for the replies, always much appreciated. Trying to post genuine Qs, have flown the Cirrus 22 and Liberty XL2 before but found my passion in paragliding. Would you have the time and interest in making an episode about getting into the airline business? Go into depth about pursuing a career during these crazy times? What would be an age limit?

Such incredibly beautiful terrain. I don't think that would ever get old for me. I'd have to ride along with someone, just to stare and gawk at the beauty - it would be too distracting when being PIC for the first few dozen times. :) Thanks for another beautiful, entertaining, and educational video. Cheers!

Great stuff. I used to fly a Grand Caravan in Northern Ontario. I miss the freedom of bush flying. Stay safe man!

Feh, the Kodiak is so much better than the Caravan ;-) I actually fly both in X-Plane, but when it comes to grass strips in the boonies of Oregon or the one-way dirt strips of Idaho I'm partial to the Kodiak's short field stopping ability when fully loaded. Good stuff as always, thanks.

I wish there was a Kodiak in FS2020! I always used to fly one in FSX... if I wasn’t in the Kodiak I was in a Cessna 185 or a SuperCub. I fly in the same areas you’re talking about, as well as around Talkeetna Alaska and the nearby Denali National Park. If you’re interested, check out GotBush.org, and come fly with us sometime.

The Quest Kodiak is such a staple bushplane that I’m surprised that it wasn’t included in Flight Sim 2020.

I destress by watching these short videos and learn something new every time. I miss flying with my Air Force buddies, so this feeds the need to be amongst the clouds. Thank you M.Bush.P , you make days a little bit better.

Have you noticed in MSFS2020 the taxi way leading to 17R the taxi way rises over 15 ft from 17L. Hope this gets fixed.

Thought it was crazy that I was just flying that aircraft in MSFS2020 and then you said it wasn't the caravan. Looks the same and the intsruments look the same.....v. hard to see the difference.
