BUSH PLANES & BIPLANES

After a three day journey from Johannesburg to St Francis Bay in my Rotax 915is Powered KFA Safari, we finally made it to the coast and flew a Boeing Stearman. A well deserved flight after such a long journey.
We managed to team up with Jared Watney, Travis van Staden & owner of Kitplanes for Africa Stefan Coetzee as we embarked on a proper KFA fly away. During the trip we had to deal with all sorts of weather, issues on airplanes and extremely high winds.
This will be a truly memorable trip for reason good and bad. But I will never forget flying formation in an aircraft which trained thousands of young pilots to fight in the second world war.

Nice video, Thomas. Some beautiful scenery there. As a former Stearman owner, of course the Stearman flying was my favorite part. Looks like it had a 300hp Lycoming engine?

Yes there is - they are there full time on weekdays and half days on weekends
