Hi many thanks for your comments here! I would like to provide a Google translation (I'm sure it is not adequate) so that other readers who do not understand the Russian/Cyrillic will be able to also view the following: "I am a professional military man and lover of an active lifestyle, in my arsenal I have a lot of knives for various purposes and functionality, I know this manufacturer from some military products. This knife was purchased recently and has already managed to feel all its positive functionality, it is expensive, of course, but this is only its only drawback. An excellent tool both as a combat weapon and as a survival knife and as a hunting assistant, I always have an auxiliary small knife with me, but this one replaces it with interest, thanks to the manufacturers, this series should develop." I am glad you like this model and I too believe this to be a very versatile design and as you mention, a : "hunting assistant" because as you indicate the importance of having another smaller knife handy. You have effectively summed up the applications of this product.

Outstanding Mate! This ones a must for my collection I would love to see you do a review on the Selvans by ER since buying that one I've hardly touched the Ontos , Fulcrum it's on another level again.
@BushCampingTools7 жыл бұрын
Hi, yeah I've heard people saying that re the Selvans and I think it's all about that slightly longer reach if you like and the "improved grip" (my words) for swing that baby. Plus many don't like having serrations on that upper surface but I got used to mine and of course as you know can also strike your steel there too. But all that being said, I think the Ontos is still what they say it's good for. As for the Fulcrum..... :)!

Great knife and great review, I have the 3909 and the AMF (the modernized version of the Gerber BMF). I can only speak more than highly of Extrema Ratio for the superb craftsmanship quality of their knives.
@BushCampingTools5 жыл бұрын
That is a good summary of their products. I too have the AMF and love it, maybe because of that retro look. I always wanted one of those Gerber BMFs but never bit the bullet. I see they are for sale on Ebay at times for ridiculous amounts of money, although I guess not if one is a collector! I bet that 3909 is great too. Thanks for watching!

@@BushCampingTools I have the BMF mint in box , it has a 440A stainless steel blade. The Mint in Box items can be pricey but it cuts well . I have bought it as a collector item. I also have a Mint in Box buckmaster 184 with a 425m blade and a mint al mar sf 10 with a 440 c seki japanese blade. The AMF was a too good deal to pass up. Yes the 3909 is one of the best knives I have ever had.

@@georgeszaslavsky OMG, two classic blades of "modern times" and you own them mint! I also lusted after that Buckmaster and had it out of the display cabinet so many times, the only reason I never got chucked out of the shop was because I knew the guy (although we weren't what u would call friends, more of business colleagues LOL!). When I was living in Tokyo, I also saw the BMF for sale in a big outdoor store but at that time I was more into tick mountain bike parts for a downhill bike I had. (Ok I did buy loads of knives there LOL, but sadly not the Gerber). I'm sure the AMF will also become a collectors item like the 3909.

@@BushCampingTools I bought the BMF alongwith its smaller cousin the LMF and the Gerber Bowie from a Gunshop 6 years ago which used to have an insane amount of new old stock Gerbers, Bucks and Randalls back then. Hi mate thanks and thanks for watching! Yeah surprised me a bit with this "revamped" blade design. I was looking at it when it first appeared on their web site and thought, well what's the point, as it looked just like the original Task but of course the web images on their site and others really didn't show it properly at all.
@dazzpol7 жыл бұрын
Great review. I have owned a few of ERs blades. Fulcrum, Task, t4000, Shrapnel. I have since sold them and only have the Selvans now. All great knives but they didn’t fit my intended purpose and was a shame having them gather dust. With regards the task, I couldn’t get on with the finger choil. It seemed to increase the length of the blade (which sounds daft I know) but I like to use the blade near the handle for controlled cuts, together with the serrations I just couldn’t get on with it. Slicing with the fine edge was ok, but again this seemed too far away to get control. Now this looks right! I was looking to get the Dobbie IV but that recurve keeps putting me off. The Task J looks the business and might just fit the bill! That curved cutting edge looks like a capable wood worker and the thicker tip gives me a little more confidence when poking stuff. Does that top guard interfere much?
@BushCampingTools7 жыл бұрын
I had some initial doubts re the top guard of the Task J but in my hands no, not at all infact when cutting vegetables (I'll post some video) I hook my index finger around the top guard (then no chance of slippage!). But yeah I know what u mean re the original Task and the choil. Now that's it gone it is much much better. I wonder if the Task was a early prototype LOL for the Task J?? But seriously, I still like my Task too, but yep I understand your views totally here. Thanks for watching!

I now have my task j. Although I’ve not had chance to get this outdoors as yet I can agree with your review. Comfortable grip, stout but usable blade and the usual excellent sheath system. @BushCampingTools7 жыл бұрын
Yes, at least in my experience it is a sign of quality, I won't disagree here. Many speak of the price, something I never discuss on this channel as it really depends on many things. I think, if we have to compare them to knives from other manufacturers within Europe and in the USA of similar prices then I'd say they are a better deal. Although I could write much on this subject which is too much for here but I think your comment has prompted me to write properly about this aspect and I'll post it to the blog or on facebook, so stay tuned.

Did you buy it off of extremas website or from a seller? As it's very expensive at around 400 euros on their and I really want this knife, hoping to find a somewhat cheaper price
@BushCampingTools3 ай бұрын
As a rule i never discuss prices or buying from ANY shop on the channel (I've made many video about why the channel does it like this). However, i will say this: I think the best bet for any knife purchases is to buy from a reseller/internet shop. As for the price you have to ask yourself, am i collecting knives, or am I only going to have one and use it until I pass it on to my kid/s? Then if this is the answer then it's not expensive. The other way i look at it is that 400 bucks/Euros/Francs etc is like 1$/day which is less than a cup of coffee a day or a beer to go without if you want it. However, seriously, I made several videos about disposable income, if you haven't seen them then maybe these will help you make up your mind (for any purchases).

Уважаемый автор, подскажи пожалуйста: что на твой взгляд лучше Task J, Fulcrum или Fulcrum Bayonet NFG? Что тебе больше нравится самому?
@BushCampingTools Жыл бұрын
Hi there. This is a good question and I can say without hesitating that the Fulcrum NFG is more serviceable in the field and more useful (at least for me) Do not get me wrong the Task J is a very very good knife but is a little bit harder to sharpen and you can not press into the butt because of the protruding tang (more useful as a persuader device however, it too can be applied to bushcraft things with some imagination.

Is it better in your opinion than the Ka-Bar Tanto- even though this knife is actually a Japanese Tanto as the Ka-Bar is a regular Tanto? It's a beast I can tell that much!!
@BushCampingTools7 жыл бұрын
While I have never held, nor (at present :)) used a KBar Tanto, I can see no reason why: 1) it wold not be comfortable to use as those grips are of course very ergonomic and of course also grippy, if I use my Ontario Spec Plus to go on. 2) the slight belly/Japanese looking blade design works, I know this from the Kizlyar Supreme Senpai and how well it does in the bush. The biggest difference is the steel of course but I'd say you can't go wrong with the KBar tanto. As to whether it is "Better than", I can't say whether it is "Better than" anything else as this is really opinion and the designs are different, plus as I said I don't have it to make a direct and fair comparison. Eg I love Subaru's, and in fact own a WRX but is it better than a EVO? LOL!
