I think its a great idea to build up a sleep system that can be changed to suit different temperatures, rather than a sleep system for each. I am in the process of putting mine together at the moment. Great video...

Nice one Rasmus, my sleep system is almost identical dependant on weather. The inflatable mat is a great addition to the kit as it provides a barrier between your body and the cold air if your using a hammock. Nice one buddy. Another great vid.

Nice to see a real time use of this gear. Tak

just for trivia purposes my next door neighbors are named Rasmussen. I use the US military sleep system. It has several sleeping bags including a goretex bivy. everything put together is "rated" to -20 (f) . A bivy added to a regular sleeping bag increases comfort by a large margin. I am tinkering with making a light weight bivy out of canvas to use with a woolen blanket

Nice system! I need to try a 2 sleeping bag system. Thanks!

Haha, how' funny :) I would love a MSS sleep system, but i would be an idiot to spend the money on it, since i've already got a sleep system, i'd rather use the money on something else. I might actually buy the goretex bivy from the MSS! Yes, i love bivy's, and you're absolutely right :) Good idea! :D

The Isreali Army surplus wool blanket is a great value also.

I think that with your folding the inflatable sleep pad lengthwise, then rolling it up, that it might cause a stress/wear point making it more likely to develop a leak along that fold line. I just roll my inflatable sleep pad, without the folding, and it has lasted over 15 years with no leaks.

British Army wool blanket £10 from amazon. I love my one-man bivy, a bit claustrophobic when fully done up, a bit like a Coffin. lol

Yes it is, versality is a key factor! Sounds good, thanks alot! :)

I think you're absolutely right, it will probably create a weak point on the pad. But i'm willing to take that risk, since i hate having to strap my pad to the outsite of my pack :) Thanks for you comment and experience.

Thanks Daniel, although this system is meant for good ol' ground dwelling, not hammockin' :D

Det er den samme erfaring jeg har. ;) Mit problem er bare at jeg er for bred til at jeg kan lyne den helt op.
@Danishbushcrafter11 жыл бұрын
Selvfølgelig kan jeg. Der mange ting man kan, men som der vil være konsekvenser af. Hvis jeg sov med dette system uden noget vandtæt over mig, ville der komme vand i ansigtet på mig, da det ikke kan snøres helt til.

I am thinking, when you are in an area without trees, forget the tarp, then also possibly forget a bivvy system cause if it rains... :/ So in areas without trees (like rocky Scotland?) one needs a tent 100%. Right?:)
@rickgreenhalgh13577 жыл бұрын
A gortex bivi bag keeps you pretty dry but ideally you'd need some other shelter too. Anything helps, even a big rock blocking the wind. A tarp will alway be better than nothing, and can go over a low rock wall or be used with whatever surroundings you have. A tent gives more comfort, if you try making your own shelter then I'd advise having a plan b until your confident.

Of course you don't understand our currency, but i was just expecting people to use a currency calculator, instead of me posting 10 different values... Well, the danish bivi bag can only be bought in DK, in 1 store. The tesco bag can obviously be found in Tesco, and my intermediate bag is no longer made. The pad is just a cheap one, lot's of different ones out there :)
