You better have more than one wool blanket.

Grandsfors Bruks have good axes but this company is a proud member of the agenda 2030. This is why i never will buy an axe from them.

Don't believe this nonsense! First all don't ever sleep on the cold ground in the middle of winter just because you have one wool blanket. The ground will suck the heat right out of your and laugh at your wool blanket. A wool blanket is not freeze proof. It helps but in very cold temps you need much more or an enclosed shelter like a wiki up with a fire in the center.

I'll stick with a temperature appropriate sleeping bag. Maybe put the blanket inside if the temperature drops.

Good on you kid I've only just stumbled across this channel as I've been looking for Wool blanket ideas. Ignore the haters at least your trying & have the balls to do it. There's only 1 problem I have with this set up is I'm a side sleeper & a very restless sleeper so it would be impossible for me to sleep in that position for very long & can see it all coming undone several times in the night. Great idea tho keep up the good work 👍

seems to me you should have gone corner to corner with your under tarp, in that way you could keep your head out of the snow and cover yourself if it rains

Pretty good! However, you might consider adding an element to have some kind of simple shelter overhead, as to protect from cold air descending upon you during the night, causing significant condensation and external freezing on your blanket. It also does the same to protect your boots from the elements. Also would like to recommend a Hudson's Bay blanket, the very best! Cheers!

Well done. Ignore the Dick heads on here calling you Kid, asking questions that you already answered in the video, and saying you need this or need that, you have very clearly shown that you are just talking about the blanket as an option..Remember too that all those military fools, pretending they are Rambo, are NOT survival experts, they know the very bare minimum about the very basic, cheap, outdated, gear gear they were issued..

When I joined the Australian Army in 1977 we were issued a very thin wool blanket (called a horse blanket) and a nylon outer cover. It was fine until the temp dropped close to freezing and then even with all your clothes on it was cold. Then we got sleeping bags which were better, but not by much. It wasn;'t until about 1981 we were issued a much better sleeping bag. I still have my nylon outer but lost the blanket years ago. Great video and I wonder if you are still sleeping in the snow like that?

It's also good to know that your diagonal way was the best. But you should set it up diagonally on the tarp as well and you can fold the tarp the same as your blanket and it will keep falling snow or rain off of you also you should take two sticks and stab them in the ground and put your boots upside down over them so it will not rain or snow directly into your boots. There are a thousand ways to do things. But you must keep in mind how you need to do it if you are in bad weather other than just being cold. The way I described as the way Cowboys did it in the United States way back when. It worked for them and it will work for you. Those guys had to live outside for months on end. In all types of weather

How big is your blanket and how much wool is it in it? I have trouble finding 100% wool. Mostly 50-80% wool.

Hey Rasmus, it's been a long while! You were always really supportive on my early videos, specifically the first bowdrill video I ever did almost 10 years ago. I think I was maybe 15 at the time, practicing skills in my back yard in Northern BC, Canada. I just went back and watched it again myself, and saw your nice comments. I do hope you're doing well these days my friend! -Reno

Scrape some off the firerod without igniting, just nice and easy, smoothly, make them land or gather or move it onto the wood that you want to firestart and then make the spark action, the scrapes will likely catch fire and start the fire :)
