Joe, Excuse the picture and name, I changed it for good reason. I"m David Gardner and we have spoke in the past. I want to suggest a rebuild on the pack. The bottle holder flap should be sewn into an upside down cup to cover the pocket better. More like the older U.S. military ALICE pack. I am sure that you would appreciate that design a bit better. It helps keep it dry and also keeps out any debris when hiking through thicker brush. I almost forgot......it should also have cinch cords for the opening of that kind of pouch. And finally, drain hole grommets in the bottom of the pouch helps also. Cheers buddy. I love your vids and will continue to watch and have fun. Thanks for being such an awesome KZbinr.

Call it the JoeB. Suggestions: 'canter'/tilt the large side bags slightly forward so you can use them while hiking; and add little belt pouches for snacks, mini-first aid, or fishing kit.
@bushcraftcambridge50868 жыл бұрын
There is def some serious planning and thought in the design and use of usable space. A+ for the large "bottle pockets" as well. I've modded my maxpedition bottle carrier and pained over the tight quarters myself. I can see right away this design would work well. I'm gonna check out some of their other gear as well. I like me some centre zip pouches. Thanks to both of you for what looks like a new kid on the block in packs.
@bushcraftcambridge50868 жыл бұрын
I had a quick peek at their items up. There's a few great features I spotted immediately. 1) design your own! That's pretty neat! And the clip on the saddle roll. Instead of Velcro. To name a couple. And Canadian !! Something I can pay for in Canadian dollars and likely go and pick up when it's ready. Very cool. Thanks. Chris.

Looks great man! Really glad y'all are doing this. It's much better to have gear designed by people who actually do this stuff all the time than someone who sits behind a desk thinking up theoretical designs. The only thing I would change is the flaps on the top - I'd rather have a drawstring opening, but it's not a dealbreaker by any means.

Joe, this pack is fantastic!! Fair play to the company. I am normally very biased to British made kit, but I cannot wait to order one of these.
@Bhans998 жыл бұрын
the main thing that is been annoying me whilst carrying an axe around the forest is that you can either strap it onto your belt (which is annoying when you want to sit or crouch) or take your backpack off to strap it on / put it in there. Can you put the axe back into its holder without taking the backpack off? If not, might be an idea to ask the company if they can possibly do that?

Awesome pack..definitely a lot of thought went into it. I especially like the side pouches that will fit a nalgene.. nothing worse than having a bottle full of water swaying around when you are walking.. The strap keepers are super. The slip pockets in behind the side pockets are fantastic. you can haul anything in there... if you want to take a tripod, or a fishing rod etc..it will fit nicely...very versatile. hey there is a name for you YNOT Versa!!!! or Versabush!! Joe I think a roll top closure under the top flap would be better for a bushcraft pack. Make it more weatherproof if you decide to secure gear under just the top flap (like a quick access poncho/raingear) without breaking the weather sealed main bag.

Great looking pack, Joe! Thanks for sharing on your load out, too. I always tend to over pack and watching you and others who have extensive bush craft experience is helping me adjust from trekking to bush craft camping. At 71, this is more my style now as my legs and lung capacity have changed considerably. I viewed the YNOT website and for the price for the entire package isn't bad, I'll have to add those two organizer bags as well.

Another thought was a Velcro or zippered panel integrated with the under carry system. This would provide an even quicker and cleaner means of stowing the straps while also providing a pass through tuck away for an extra layer or wet items when you aren't out overnight. I feel like the zippered option would be more robust and better in terms of longevity. If I haven't described this well enough to visualize let me know and I'll make a sketch for you.

The past 3 days I have been searching for a bushcraft backpack that was medium sized and from the looks of it that fits my criteria. Love the design of the pack, but i would like to see a longer version(Main Compartment) that would allow you to put a sleeping bag in a dry compression bag sideways at the bottom inside of the main compartment, that can be also be removed from the bottom outside of the pack (Via A Zip), and on the inside of the pack some more pack material stitched to the front inside with clips and straps on the opposite side (For Adjustment/Cinching) to compartmentalize the sleeping bag from the rest of the main compartment, thus enabling you to remove said sleeping bag and the material pack divider keeping the rest of your pack items secured above due to resting on top of the material divider. The reason for this is a sleeping bag attached to the outside of a bush pack, can suffer serious damage and ruin your trip. I would buy a longer version for sure, and if the above modification was added, it would make it one of the best bushcraft pack's out there, as i've been searching for a decent bush pack that meets all the right requirements.

I like that pack a hell of a lot. Simple but very effective use of space. No real "dead zones" as I call them. Places on a bag that have no function. I wonder if you could get additional straps on top and on bottom? I'm a big guy and when it's cold, I have a large -20f° bag. I would like to strap that to bottom and my multilayer coat to the top. Even without the additional straps, this is a great design. Kudos to you and YNOT. Will definitely check out the Kickstarter. As far as a name goes...something simple suck as BushScout. The bag much like Scout are simple, look good in the woods and can save your ass. Keep it up. Big fan of the channel and your hard work and skills.

Love the design of the Wildland, not so crazy about the materials. Bomb proof but a bit of an overkill for most backpackers/Bushcrafters. You could reduce weight and cost by replacing fabric with something lighter. 3/4 " straps and buckles could also work. I'd also find a distributer in the USA to work with you & the ynot folks.
