The bushcraft traditional skill of fire starting using char cloth is explained and demonstrated in this video. From cotton wool balls to denim material the process is explained. The ability to create fire is a basic survival necessity and something everybody who ventures into the great outdoors should practice. In this video you will get to see how easily char cloth is made and how easy it is to set a fire with.
Since the dawn of time, man has sought the ability to create fire whenever he chose, with char cloth that becomes a reality. Char cloth as the name suggests is made in the same way as charcoal, it is burnt in an oxygen free environment so the material left behind after the process is still fairly strong for transportation and use, but easily lights. Even a weak, cool spark produced by the traditional fire steel and flint method is sufficient to set it alight.

Really interesting. I never realised you could cook cotton wool or cloth and extract gas but I guess it's the same way you make charcoal
