Just a quick look at what I carry in my heavy-duty, more robust haversack. This kit can operate as a stand-alone pack but can also be placed into a larger pack to supplement other gear to have a more inclusive kit.

I'm impressed with how organized your haversack is. I was surprised there was only a bandana for purifying water other than fire. It can be done, but I would prefer to have at least a Lifestraw or Sawyer handy. You have a very nice kit put together. I live in Ohio. So far this summer has been quite chilly. Hahaha I wrote this just before you said you need to add a water filter. It's awesome your wife helps with videotaping and editing.

Thanks so much for watching! Anybody who knows me would tell you I have a bit of OCD with organization. 😄. It has it's pros and cons. Definitely planning on adding a water filter, snacks and food when I go for the overnight. Already added it to my other haversack (lightweight) as that's the one I'll be overnight with first. Probably gonna add a small First aid kit to this one as well. I'm gonna be taking the Katadyn Befree water filter. 👍 Stay tuned for the Overnighters!

The loadout is definitely organized & neat. My EDC haversack gear is happening along small, flat pouches. Found a similar to the Coalcracker at the local Salvation Army store, made out of cotton/jutte bled with a top loading brass zipper which turned out to be YKK. And for $1.50! Have you seen The Wild Buck Outdoors side bag system? It's definitely closer to how you like to carry. Made in Europe at affordable prices.

@@awayinthewilderness4319 I'm not sure. Antique store's. Thrift shop. Maybe special made by Hudson Bay? Or you can do what they did. Cold forge it out of brass or copper though I believe they press the lid for the glass and cap. I would ask Hudson Bay if they can build one. Really it's just a Matter of a couple of pieces of the same metal as your Hudson Bay and either rivet it in or spot weld . All you need do is bend it so it handles a candle. If I remember correctly there is some places I did discover using Google.

A lot of tig stoves that be used different fires Sterno or alcohol stove. But I did buy 2 different folding stoves that nestals in cook pots. And bought a stainless steel grease pot with strainer for $3.00. And have found multiple boy scouts cook kits for multiple families. Oh yes when it's a dollar or 50 cent. Emergency bandage, Emergency sling, Emergency tourniquet, Emergency water strainer, Emergency signal flag, Emergency head covering, Emergency patch for clothing, Emergency tinder item, Emergency pack for small items, Handkerchief, Heck, you could even use it as a mask for dusty environments (the original cowboy use for a bandana).

@r.samuelfranks3615 you could use it as a washcloth and a pot holder when removing your pot from the fire. You could use it to stop up water if you didn't have a container. You can carry stuff in it like berries or a small kit. You can stuff it in-between your pots to keep them from rattling.

You seem to have the essentials covered. One thing I would suggest is a pair of Kevlar lined leather gloves, or really any type of heavy duty glove that will protect you from burns and allow you to handle your cookware; for example , if you needed needed to move your bush pot to a different spot over the fire. It’s very convenient to be able to move stuff around and grab things that would otherwise burn the shit out of your hands

Kevlar gloves are more to prevent cuts and slices! Nomex is the fire resistant material..
@1mataleo1
@1mataleo1 7 ай бұрын
I know. I have a pair of nomex pilot gloves. I’m recommending Kevlar lined leather gloves because they are durable, multi purpose, and will allow him to handle hot cookware without burning himself. I’m not talking about sticking his hand in the fire. And in my experience, nomex gloves resist catching on fire, which is different than protecting your hand from heat

@@1mataleo1or you can just use a bandana?
@1mataleo1
@1mataleo1 2 ай бұрын
You could…. I prefer the gloves for the reasons I stated, but its certainly not something that your survival hinges on. I just find them multipurpose, durable, and convenient. Of course, in a pinch almost anything that will protect your hand will work; like the bandanna you mentioned.

Thanks a lot for watching and taking the time to comment. I do have a navigation kit that will go in and out of different packs. I've said it before and will say it again, it's definitely an area that I need to put more time into. Not very well learned in land navigation. I really plan on devoting more time into that in the future. Thanks for the advice!

I looked at your channel, you seem like a good family man. I have a ton of high-quality gear. what do you need? I just dont buy pathfinder gear. I don't like that Dave tries to take credit for 5Cs and 10Cs mountain men. and frontiersmen have been using 10- and 5-piece kits for over 100 years. Also, I bought two of Daves videos they were lame. not even 2nd class quality. just really no content.
