The chain on the pot is a great modification. I’d like to find something flexible but rigid enough not to fall into the cooked food

If you stuff a down jacket in there between you and the pack, it will be wet by sweat. Bad Idea unless you plastic bag it

I use the shamandanas for thst. One can be tethered under me an the other I use on tip if I get chilly but it's 78 degrees with 100%humidity at night here in the south

No I haven't. My go to straps are Helios suspension system. I've used them for a few years and love them.

What's is easiest to carry your food pantry or freeze dried meals

It depends a bit on your desired food and plans for protein. I make a submersible early packable pantry that goes in your bedroll on your pack in a bottle holder or on your belt. But there are others like the packers pantry that do quite well. For oils I like a german butter dish and coconut oil and for raw protein I recommend freezing it and putting it in a zip lock then folding that into a cheese cloth or bandana foe abrasion protection
