I'm a few years late to the party but I want to tell you that I'm impressed by how well you immediately take the saddles off the horses when you reach hour daily destination. It's important to unburden them as soon as you can as you do. I like the spacious area you enclose for them for grazing on lush grass, your dog seems happy and in great shape. You treat your animals very well. It gets you two thumbs up from me. Well done gentlemen ! Keep up the great work and thank you for taking us along for the ride. Very enjoyable !!

Brilliant. Some very confident riding at the beginning lad's, nice. This video is more to home for me, I spent over 2 years living on the road horse drawn with a friend, I lived in a Gypsy Bender and had a 2 wheeled flat cart and he had himself a very nice Open Lot Wagon, our setups were pulled by our Welsh Cobs of around 14:2 hand's, we lived a lot off the land mainly and foraged out of food skips when we could, this video is where my head was totally at nearly 30 year's ago. Thank you and atvb to you both. Paul.

One of my favorite camping trips was a week-long adventure up in the mountains of New Mexico with my horse and some friends. I also slept in a hammock with a tarp and was privileged to enjoy the nightly meeting of a band of coyotes as they got together on a rise not far from me to swap stories. My horse didn't mind, as he was used to coyotes.

Thanks for the great video. Took me back. I'm from the western state of Nevada. I working cattle ranches when I was younger and my sport was rodeo. In fact my first couple of deer hunting trips were on horse back. My dog and constant companion back then was a red heeler. An amazing breed for all day everyday travels through the Great Basin Desert of Nevada. Keep the fun on camera and continue to share. Thanks again!

We would hobble horses and mules and let them graze. Lead animal gets a cowbell around the neck. Some people use portable electric fences but Moose tend to knock em down and your in for a big hike. We always take pack animals....makes camp more tolerable. Allows for things like a stove, chairs, horse feed, etc. We log dead wood for fire by tying off to the tail. Their tails are strong. Find a couple of books online. “Packing in on horses and mules” the other is “Horses, Hitches and Rocky Trails” written by Smoke Elsner and Joe Back respectively. Good luck!

Its pretty wild to think that this is how a majority of humans lived for thousands of years before cities and cars and the industrial revolution. Most human beings traveled by horseback (or on the back of a similar caliber pack animal like Alpacas or Donkeys) and they survived on the elements until they reached the next small village or local inn. They did what theu had to do to survive and make it to rheir destination. Even scholars, kings, emporers and merchants had to travel this way. It was the only way to travel from place to place over a very long distance. Whole families would ravel by horseback through mountains, rivers, snow and rain to get where they needed to be. Its just so amazing there are people who still do it and keep that part of humam history alive in the modern day!

Did you guys lease your horses and how long have to actually ridden? To me I would be suprised if you guys took like max. 10 classes and just set off. :D Edit: 4:35 I recommend lifting the stirrups up and putting them in the "lock" so the saddle won't be as damaged and the horses won't spook.

But. I'm sure you cam find cheaper ones if you desire
