Bertram - Craft and Wilderness

5 жыл бұрын

I am enjoying a few days in the forrest. Trying a new tent and a homemade billhook. It's late winter here in Denmark and it's about -1 to +8 celcius. I am doing craft and enjoying some great food. This is the long version - here is the short version • BUSHCRAFT TRIP - HOT T...
--------------------------------
Location: Denmark - previous viking country. West coast of Jutland - sand, big sea, spruce and pine forrest. Some of the most remote in Denmark, but a lot of people in Denmark so limited how remote it can get. A lot of birds and deer. No bears only a few wolves - nothing dangerous for campers. If you want to do the same in Denmark do you need to be the owner or get the owners permission.
--------------------------------
Here can you see how I made the billhook/the big knife • Blacksmithing: making ...
Here can you see how I made the candle sticks • Blacksmithing: making ...
Here can you see how I made the saw frame • Making a frame saw / b...
Here can you see how I made the drill/auger • Video
---------------------
A few questions:
What are you eating?
Cabbage, eggplant, beans, onions, tomatoes - with oregano, salt and "English sauce". I did forget the meat at home... never done that before, but it happened this time.
What wood did you use for making the spoon?
Oak.
Was it a branch you used for the rack bindings?
Yes - green branch from pine twisted into "rope". You can make most wood into "rope" like that.
Why add moss on the table?
Keeps the sticks better in place and no small side branches can catch what ever you lay on the table or just fall though the tabletop. .
Why didn't you do a better job on sewing the sack?
It's an old one, over 20 years old and the material is not strong any more. I did just quickly, while cooking the food, prevent the big hole from getting bigger. I will replace the stitches when I get home and sew all the holes with nice straight stitches - or maybe just consider if it's time to replace the sack with a new one.
Did you like the billhook?
Yes, it did a fine job and I will use it more in future videos.... But I do like axes better. Having both an axe and a billhook would be very useful in a camp like this.
Is it a Sami sewing kit?
Yes - homemade.
What is that background noise?
Only nature sounds - I am about one mile from a big sea and that sounds sometimes similar to a highway. The rest is just wind.

Guys just take a moment to appreciate the amazing transitions starting from 38:00 to 39:00. Just for this minute he changed the position of the camera 3 times and it's so seamless that I couldn't believe it. Great camera, cinematography and editing. He is multi talented - blacksmith, bushcrafter, wood carver, camera operator, video editor and video director. Isn't that amazing? I bet his IQ is above average.

Same honest smiling at all times. I enjoy and get sucked into your videos to a point that I feel the cold air in my nose, the heat radiating from the stove, I smell the food cooking (no meat this trip, Rune?), the smell of wood burning..., it is a real pleasure to get transported far away and into those beautiful woods for 50+ minutes, Thank you, Rune!! See you on the next trip!!

This is truly bushcraft at its finest. Not looking to sell you on anything, just a fellow out there doing what he loves and sharing his time. Part of these experiences alone is the quiet time. The fact that he is just living it without a word is what keeps me coming back to watch and has made this my favorite channel! My friend please keep,up the good work. The outdoor lifestyle is something that should inspire everyone. ✌🏻

Can't imagine why anyone would give you a thumbs down. Your skills are formidable and you make it all look so simple like it's second nature to you. Almost like this is your full time lifestyle. I can easily imagine you making money with your forge and your carving skills and just living off the land. Heck, do you even have a modern house? Lol! You're definitely not the weekend warrior bushcrafter like many others that post similar videos. Do you even have a "normal" job, or is this the way you earn your living? Whatever the case may be, keep doing what you're doing! It's clear you love what you are doing and so do I. Thank you for sharing your talents for they are phenomenal indeed!

What a beautiful place to camp... I noticed so much as I watched ... the wind, the birds, the tallness of the trees, the lovely wood that the spoon was made of... it's a wonder to watch a piece of wood become a useful eating tool and a pretty one at that... Even though my husband and I are in our 60's we love camping ... what a real blessing it is to have the talent and know how that you do ... and enjoy it as you do and teach others what you have learned . Have a great day and many more 🤓🤓☕️☕️truly did simply enjoy watching .
