Thank God this video is still up. I watched it 2 years ago after inheriting a dirty old Mossberg. I took it apart then and cleaned it up and it worked great. Needed to take it apart again today and there was no way I could remember how to do it. I knew I had saved your video in my favorites and was able to take it apart and reassemble it once again.

I have a Western field that is older than you and it is exactly like your Mossberg,piece of cake to disassemble and assemble. The gun is 54 yrs old still works like it was new. So your Mossberg should last your lifetime . Enjoy

Appreciate the vid. I acquired my grandad's Western Auto Revelation when my dad passed. With a little research I learned it was basically a Mossberg 500; some minor differences of course but I knew it was a sound shotgun. Today for the first time, I broke it down courtesy of your well explained instruction and yes, got it back together. Thank you so much for this video. I pulled the gun completely apart and was afraid that I would never get it back together again. Your step by step instructions and detailed explanation are very helpful; even if you initially tried to put the trigger housing in backward. (I noticed that immediately.) I especially needed your tips on how to insert the forearm and carrier arms to get them to slide properly (8:20) followed by the line-up procedure. (10:15) What a relief! Additionally, proper mounting and insertion of the ejector arms (12.20) made completion very easy. Anyone with this gun, needs this video!

PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE READ!! This is a great video! You helped me get the entire gun disassembled. Sad thing is I wanted to do this because this is my great grandpa's 1985 mossberg 500b 16gauge. It is currently have a double feed issue after owning it in the family for almost 38 years. I've pinpointed the issue to the "interruptor" which has literally over time been machined down by all the shotgun blasts. They don't even sell them in 16 gauge anymore I don't believe.. is there anyway to fix? Anybody?

When I bought my Mossberg 590 Retro, the first thing I did was field strip it and reassemble it 8 times so I thoroughly knew how to clean it. Then I took it to the range. I do that with every new gun I acquired over the years. Master it before you use it.

I got mine for 270, but was asking around just last week. lowest prices nowadays are about $320. I highly recommend it. It is a great platform. interchangeable and inexpensive barrels, tons of accessories, you can change the field version to a tactical shotgun for about $100 and 20 min worth of work. plus, it has a long history of being a reliable shotgun. The 500 and remington 870 are both great investments

Had to chuckle when I saw your first attempt to put the trigger assemble back. Saw the trigger pointing the wrong way, but I give you kudos for doing the KZbin, more cajones then me. Thanks for the instruction. For cleaning, I just pull the barrel, and use CLP on the action, dirty and quick. Ya, still leaves it a little dirty.

Great video, awesome work. I just had to take mine down to replace the mag spring, and this video helped tremendously. My mag tube had to be heated with a torch to get loose, but finally got it. had to pause this video a few times to get it just right when putting the bolt assy back in. Best disassembly/assembly video on the mossberg 500.

I'll add my compliments to the chef. First gun I ever tried my hand at gunsmithing. Revelations R310AB, same exact gun in case someone is searching like I did. Tore out every, single, tiny pin and rebuilt it 2-years ago. Yes, bolt included. And promptly forgot how to do it again when I wanted a better paint job on the receiver. Still online OP? Maybe a teardown on the bolt carrier group? It would really help folks, hard to find.

The Mosburg 500 is the best pump shotgun ever invented I have a Mosburg 500 made in 1960 it still works perfectly and I have never had a jam are a failure of any kind I did security on Iraq from 1994-1999 our company only used Mosburg 500 shotguns for room to room clearing because of there quality and reliability I still own the one I used and bought from the company I worked with when I left Iraq
