Just recovering from the Winnipeg Whisky Festival tasting last night... I was fortunate enough to try the BM Acacia wood (under the table bottle), and the BM 10yo Cognac-finished @46%. Both very nice! I also had the opportunity to meet and chat w Dr.Don, who brought some sample bottles (kept under the table) of a Wiser's 40yo (same juice as the 10yo) soon to be released, and a LOT40 Cherry wood for fall release.

This particular Bushmills sounds wonderful, and the Killowen...interesting for sure. I'm not a big rum fan either. I find that it is often too sweet for my palate. The only rum I've had which remains a favourite, is Newfoundland Distillery's Gunpowder and Roses. Complex, layered, and dry. A highly unusual spirit. Hope the week is starting well for you. Wow that rum really sounds tasty. But I’m with you I can appreciate a pour of rum but not in my realm. I can sure ape a rum finished whiskey 👍. Cheers 🥃

Cool pairing. 👍 FWIW I'd bet US to Canadian dollars you'd enjoy Hampden rum. Of course, it's not cheap and might be hard to find in your area, but it's 100% a whisk[e]y sipper's rum. Cheers!

If you're going to give Rum a fair try get ElDorado 15...not trying to be whiskey. Traditional.

@@WhiskyNeighbour El Dorado 12, Appleton 12, Smith and Cross for a high proof Rum with some "funk" kinda like what Islay is to Scotch.... anything by Denzian, Plantation XO, Doorlys 12 . See Ralfys review of Doorlys 12 and Appleton 12.
