I can't wait for summer catching crawfish. I live in the state of Washington. Our crawfish are a little bit smaller. But nice and tasty!!! CHEERS!!!!
@jasonr5989 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Marron are 3rd largest freshwater crayfish in the World. Can get to 40 cm ( 16" ) length and 2 kg ( 4.5 lb ), but don't see many that size anymore. Still around in deep river pools and dams , but hard to catch. Australia has the World's largest ( Giant Tasmanian Crayfish up to 20" and 12lb, second largest freshwater crayfish ( Murray River Crayfish ). Those two don't grow as fast as Marron though. That's why Marron are farmed all over the World in the right climates, including in the US.

You should try eating the brown meat. Most people whk rinse the insides off have never actually tried it. The only poop is in the vein and the sac connected to the mouth. The yellow stuff inside the head is like egg yold itll change texture just like egg yolks

Crimes against marron are not usually tolerated...always wanted to mix up the cook and add a bit of Soy for well being....brilliant stuff, thanks for the ammo I needed to help adjust the minds of those that won't do anything but boil...Black Crab respect!!..👍

what does the meat taste like unseasoned, is it more like crawdads, or lobster? or does it have its own unique flavor?
@BushRats Жыл бұрын
more like lobster or crayfish

Great video and recipe Lee. Does the method of twisting the middle tail fin 180degrees and pulling work on marron to remove the intestinal tract as it does with yabbies?

ripper cookup!! did your camera man get some or did you leave him drooling 🤣

Sorry for the amateur question, but are marron more like monster yabbies, or are they an actual species of crayfish?
@tnxfishing2 жыл бұрын
Same Family (both Cherax) but different species. They taste different as well.
@MBhunter-21352 жыл бұрын
Ahh cool. Yabbies are good. Murray crays are better than seafood, but I've never had a marron. I'm from Vic.

@Alex.The.Lionnnnn2 жыл бұрын
Why do you catch them like that? Is it a legal requirement to try and protect stocks?
@BushRats Жыл бұрын
that's it mate! they make it pretty hard for everyone now days unfortunately
@Alex.The.Lionnnnn Жыл бұрын
@Bush Rats well unfortunately they don't breed and grow at anywhere near the speed of red claw. Apparently they can get to basically full size in a year. If only the rest of the crays we have were the same!
