"You won't get screwed or manipulated or price gouged". The Wizard should be teaching classes to young mechanics. These "Car Wizard" shops will also sell your car if you don't want to fix it. These shops will also teach young men and women, how to be the best and most careful fixers of car problems. It could work.......because there is a market for honest mechanics who don't screw you. And.....free hotdogs and iced tea.

One of my son's crappy jobs was a low paying clerk job at walgreens...he decided to apply at a local bank. What a great success story! I just bought my neighbors house a couple months ago, and it came with a tenant who I really like. Such a huge financial risk but it pays off in the end and I have land to expand. It's one thing to work hard, most people work hard and never get the good fortune they deserve. The new building resembles my shop out back of our home. It is all metal, welded I-beams and corrugated panels, 14' to the I-beam holding the roof, thick concrete floor with a 10'x30' section 12" thick and the rest 8", the whole building 30x40 = 1200 sq feet, with windows, a regular door and a garage overhead door, wired for 110/220, not sure about 3-phase, but it was built for a private home welding shop by a local man who owned a welding shop in the city proper. There is something about those big welded I-beams overhead that makes me feel secure in this building, especially compared to bolted steel or wooden frame construction, or a pole building.

Having had three sick exotic cars in my garage and three clients that couldn't pay up for even the parts can change that in a hurry. Even if you get a lien, you still have to sell the car and a $250 K car you need to sell soon may only get $150 K, and most lien laws require the shop to return the monies beyond costs and "reasonable storage" to the owner. BTW, one of them turned out to have a funky title. FR

Your story about your boss trying to cancel your vacation sounds exactly like an experience I had. I was the top engineer at the company I worked at and was implementing a complex project that my boss had poorly planned and poorly designed. He called me in one day and told me that I couldn't take a Christmas vacation because his project was behind schedule. In essence he told me that my kids couldn't see their grandparents for Christmas because he did a piss-poor job designing a solution for a customer. Then and there I started looking for somewhere else to work.

I got teary-eyed towards the end of this video, because I know that feeling. I can remember taking out a loan, buying building material to refurbish and flip a derelict property, sleeping 5 hours a day for 3 months, having to pay two mortgages, wondering if the home would pass inspection, finishing the day before open house, and then waiting for an offer. Literally praying for my gamble to pay off, or face financial ruin. Congrats.

@@ohioplayer-bl9em Yeah bud, it paid off in the end. But I often ask myself how many years I may have taken off my life trying to make it happen. In a sense I was working 2 full time jobs, my regular job, and then working on the other property for another 6-8 hours daily. I'd do it again simply because I know what to look out for when purchasing and fixing a property. People may not understand this, but you will find yourself mentally exhausted alot more than physically. I'm not gonna go into my life story, but having family members who worked in the field helped alot. I'd go help them fix up houses when I was maybe 11 or 12, so I didn't need to hire alot of people, because I knew how to do certain jobs already. As for the market, things are shaky because of the pandemic. But if you live anywhere near Nashville(TN), Asheville(NC),Fort Myers(FL), or N. Charleston(SC), I wouldn't hesitate to flip. I can't speak for anywhere else, but I can tell you from experience that those cites (and states) are booming.

Beautiful story about your life together wizard. It was the same story with my wife and I. We both got divorced and she was a single mother of two. Now we have 3 children and she gets to work part time while owning a nice home and Cayenne. We both worked very hard to get here and we are greatful everyday for each other.
