I remember Ben and Jerry's from their downtown Burlington, VT location in the old gas station . They had an old player piano in the entry...you could have music for a quarter. Think of weddings, large parties, etc... The exclusively pint sized containers would be incredibly wasteful in terms of actual waste, causing Ben and Jerrys to never be considered as a dessert option there. In some instances it's better to have a smaller size for food waste, but bulk is typically better. Honestly they could just make both.
