Just turning 60, it cracks me up about Uni as I grew up in Santa Barbara and spent nearly every weekend on the beach while my dad dove for urchin and abalone. and we spent the whole day at Santa Barbara Harbor, watching buckets of urchin being brought in and that was way before sushi was a popular thing in the United States. I always asked my dad. What are those creepy spiky black things in those buckets, and he explained oh they’re going to Japan … and now many years later to discover what a delicacy it was that I constantly saw being unloaded from boats just makes me laugh.

I had watched some of these before as just individual episodes, so having all of them correlated together was a blessing and convenient to watch. Anyone who considers themself as a "Foodie" needs to watch this and gain a better understanding as to how & where specialized foods come from and better understand why the prices for such artisanal foods are so expensive and difficult to produce. I am a big supporter for the family-owned businesses that produce not just the unique foods but do it in the "Old-School" manner and in a more natural way. 👍👍Support your local enterprises and stores that sell such items and use the internet to buy the international items. 👍👍

I had a sublime ginger dressing at a place called "Mikado" Japanese Steakhouse in Glens Falls N.Y. (upstate). I don't know if it was Makoto or not... but it was easily the best ginger dressing I have ever eaten. It came in a little plastic cup on the side of my salad... I took what I didn't use at the restaurant home with me... and there wasn't very much left. It's THAT good.

On a serious note. NY tap water is pretty good. I visited my cousins in Jersey and remember drinking the tap. There was like a mystery flavor lol. I kept drinking until I was about to burst lol. And they thought I was weird. Not because I drunk multiple cups trying to figure out the weird taste. But because to them it didn’t taste like nothing. NYC water is pretty good. When you try water in NJ and Pa. You can taste the clear difference. But water from Las Vegas will make you pray for Nj and Pa water lol. They have rocks, sand and all kinds of weird stuff in it. Locals was looking at me like I’m a crazy person. Because I filled my cup with water from a soda machine. The locals said to only drink bottled water. And to be careful when showering. The more you travel the country. The more appropriate reliable good water.

They make all kinds of test kits. I don't expect that people buying premium tap water ice want chemicals in their drinks though. People can have adverse reactions to testing reagents and they're not food-safe. Common reagents for testing for GHB and analogs are cobalt-nitrate (Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. Repeated or prolonged inhalation may cause asthma. Ingestion may cause effects on the bone marrow, heart and thyroid. This substance is possibly carcinogenic to humans. Animal tests show that this substance possibly causes toxicity to human reproduction or development.) and Marquis/Mandelin (formaldehyde/concentrated sulfuric acid). California passed a bill where the tests are available by request at bars, so there is that.

If people have enough money to pay $45,000 for a melon, good for them but in my opinion, I would rather donate money to a rescue center for animals, cancer research, etc...

My dad dived for sea urchins when we went snorkeling. real spontaneous, didn’t tell no one. Just came up holding a few. And asked for a bag. And when he got in the boat, he asked for help eating them. Ate them, got the thorns stuck in a few of his fingers, it got infected, he neglected to get medication attention. Got sick. Was fine after a day. I think he ate the wrong part, not the thorn that made him sick.

The lack of sanitary conditions used by the ice cube maker was concerning. Ice is the number one culprit for food poisoning in the world.

Thank you. Hair nets. They are cutting ice while having free flowing hair. Clothing contact? I won’t be using any ice from this business.
@Madconscience
@Madconscience 3 ай бұрын
@PeacefulPariah@@maggiefriedrichs777 This is stupid. Food poisoning from ice cubes originate from dirty water and/ or ice machines that are not cleaned regularly. Since ice tends to be quite cold there is also not a problem with bacteria growth from e.g. clothing (assuming they do not use the clothing exclusively in the freezer room (which they probably are)). Also they are putting flowers in the ice cube, what do you expect happens to them beforehand, I doubt that they are disinfected btw. the same holds true for basically any food you consume it is from nature there will be bacteria on it even pathogens food is never sterile, but that is not a problem. I understand that hair in your ice/ food might be annoying but it is definitely not a hygienic problem. Also I doubt that that happens often since they run a luxury ice cube business and I am quite sure that hair in your product is bad for business.

Madagascar produces the best Caviar and almost all of the Vanilla and it is one of the poorest nations on the Planet. I don't feel that trickle down economics is working here. Madagascar People need to start asking the producers of these expensive products where their benefits are.
