The funniest thing is that the reasoning some food companies have for wanting to keep these is so that their ultra-processed food, that for all intents and purposes should not look appetizing, can appear appetizing. That the population has been nurtured to find rainbow-coloured foods and twizzlers appetizing is an entire wonder of its own.

Real solution is to STOP using dye colors at all !!! Great video. But one issue with Natural Dyes is the space it take to grow them. You need large and larger fields of strawberries to extract a tiny bit of color. It would be impossible to do that at large scale without affecting the ecosystem. That's why we should just keep things natural colors even if it's not that colorful to look at.

I mean that is irrelevant. That is an allergy people are capable of being allergic to anything. If we banned everything simply because people were allergic we wouldn't be able to eat or drink a single thing. The only real arguments to banning it is because of its harmful effects and there is no real reason it needs to be in our food, we don't need an additive to food and drinks when its only benefit is that it looks nicer. If there are any cons there better be some benefits that offset it.

The issue is not Red No 3, but that people eat ultra processed shit. You know that many Europeans get sick whenever they stay in the United States, because the food quality is so bad? The worst experience is that even fresh fruits & veg are void of nutrition, so people develop deficits over time. Other way around, you will find many reports for People who visited Europe and got healthy + lost weight without any activ changes to their diet, simply because the default options in Europe are way better... To be very clear: in Europe the food is neither good or so different, it is just that it is slightly less terrible compared to the United States. Getting good food in Europe takes effort and is expensive and it gets harder as supermarkets constantly push new ultra processed food items into the market to replace more natural options. And: when a parent gives "fruit loops" to a child this is a crime. "Fruit loops" are not food.

The issues I have with this, as someone who knows about the food industry, is that people want to remove it but have nothing to replace it with. Yeah we can use other natural colorants, but how are we going to get them? Is it currently possible to create that much so quickly? Will it affect cost, flavor, if people like how it looks, if people like the replacements? Blue is a color that rarely exists in nature as a colorant, no blueberries are not actually blue. So simply banning something with no plan of replacement is just stupid. People want change, but those same people will HATE the outcome of that change. I have no problem with removing artificial colors, but people really dont understand the impact of doing something quickly with no plan. Say they ban them quickly and ask all the food with it to be thrown out. Ok, problem solved. But now the majority of the supermarket has no food and we have no replacement for said food. Great now people have to go hungry because it wasnt planned at all.
