I love the fact that more of our people are telling our story in a better light. It is not making our parents look as bad as other people did when they told their story. It’s not making the thugs and dealers look bad either. It’s telling the truth about how we really grew up. Our life was not that bad and the people around us were respectable and caring. We all were as one in our neighborhood. We had our village life without the problems showed on tv. We had block parties like we all were close family.

White people got the same thing. In the 50's and 60's my parents wouldn't think twice about loading all seven of us up in the ole station wagon and go jam. They were both musically inclined, so Saturday nights were for getting together with friends for food, drink, and music. Kids running around at night with the lightning bugs, playing hide and seek. My parents would be lit, and there were no car seats! Some of my best memories as a kid. Busta was bringing it back for me.

At the time I was a little dejected, however in hindsight, he kept us from becoming groupies. I've been going down the funky rabbit holes of Diddy and his gang and other industry guys from that time when a 21 year old or 18 year oild girl --a 16 year old even better--would be given the red carpet treatment stright to the roofies and the drugged champagn and their lives would never be the same. So many hollow-eyed men and women who will never shake the tragedy of a major sex abuse pile-on with their idols. This shows me that Busta is not just a decent man, he is a protector. Sure those girls in the above letter were not under 18, but that is not the point. Nothing magic hap;pened after midnight on your 18th birthday that will help you survive physical harm, disrespect, and aBUSE. Busta is a hero--as we are being made aware of the unholy evil that has ruined so many people's lives, it seems that Busta needs to be heard. For example, if you are a child in the street and you diss a stranger, an elder might say, “stop that.” Because they know the NEXT stranger you do that to might walk over and beat your a** (at the best), knife you through the heart at the worst. Because they have SEEN the consequences of people’s thoughts and actions. People don’t talk about other people’s business all the time, but they sure store the knowledge. I agree, it was a totally different world back then. I am a little younger, 43, and I grew up on Long Island but I had the same experience. Our neighbors and family friends were always watching. I was a latch key kid, only child and my mom was a single mom since I was 4. Most people I went to school with had both parents and more money than we did. I would visit with my elderly neighbor a lot because I was alone and bored and she taught me a lot about life. If I was out riding my bike and it got dark out they would call my mom to make sure she was coming home to make dinner sometimes and if not they would sometimes make me a plate too because they knew we were struggling, Looking back, without the community we had helping us out idk if my mom would have made it without getting me taken away. She was always working, I don’t have a lot of fond memories with my mom growing up. as an adult and parent myself now, I realize that she wasn’t always at work when she said she was. I am thankful for the people that helped to shape me into who I am today and kept me out of trouble. These days we barely know our neighbors and I can feel the difference. My son is friendly with our 1 neighbor which I love but the rest don’t even speak with anyone. These things make a big difference in children’s lives having community.

Compelling interview with Busta Rhymes. Born from Jamaican parents and my dad was an electrician too. My dad (R.I.P) always pickup his kids on the weekend then take us to his side business to make extra money in addition to his job at the hospital. He acknowledged his guilt but added the caveat that he did what he needed to do at the time and all the better for it. Without the "mistakes" of nearly killing himself, missing the kids' experiences, he wouldn't have had that life changing experience, etc. Life's complex, I bet he could have stated some mistakes if asked, but that wasn't the focus. The mistakes seems to have lead to good things... So, are they mistakes? Even not seeing his father much after his success, it taught him a valuable lesson that will make his own children better people. Thanks for the question.

Like Busta same day I spoke to my dad and planned on seeing him was the same day I got a call he had passed..... One can never know how to heal from such. My dad was my confidant, teacher and father. I'm right here w/ya. I was thrown for a loop when I lost my 24y/o son (1mo. from 25) in April of 2020 to a fentanyl/cocaine OD. Died alone in a hotel room. "Friends" left. Then in July of 2021 his mother- in -law takes his son out of state to see relatives and he drowned. There are no words... Long story short, his dad and I divorced in 2018 but moved back in together Jan of 2019. We'd gotten along better than we ever had. We saw each other through the deaths of two souls that should have been here, had fate not reared its ugly head!😭 May 2, 2023 marked 30 years together! 25 of it married. 5 living in sin. Then I woke up Nov 19th. and he too was gone. At 60. WTF???????? I hear ya. You take care. Those other girls need ya! But, I'm sure you know that... May the rest of your journey never know this sort of heartache ever again..♥️✌️

I have been a Bust a Fan since the release of. L.O.N.S as a very early teen. I have never seen a Busta Interview ever. 4 him 2 verify he hasnt ever done one & I didnt miss out was everything. This came up Auto after watching my gurl Tisa Talks. This was the best interview ever. I subscribed bcuz of this interview. Man Busta was so transparent, inspiring & dropped so many jewelz. My step dad's best friend we dearly called "Brooklyn" always reminded me of Busta. His accent, his look, style, his height, literary they could pass as twins. Every time I hear Busta I see Brooklyn and it makes me tear up. Brooklyn died of COVID complications on my birthday last year. I feel so bad for my step dad... that one hurt. I am 45 now.I recall hearing Busta Bust for the first time on The Scenario original and remix when I was around 13 or 14. To think this dude is even better now than he has ever been is the most bewildering thing to me. Most rappers lose their touch as they get older. Rakim, Big Daddy Kane et al. didn't get better in their latter years. Another thing about Busta is his display of intelligence and wisdom. Love hearing Busta talk because he always shows black people in a good light.
