Additionally I do not use home ice maker ice or purchased ice. My freezer freezes ice to somewhere below 0 degrees. I use 2 liter rectangular plastic bottles which for me seem to last longer than the fridge ice or purchased variety.

Catfish Dave ought to check to see if his ice chest lid is insulated. I know that Igloo does not insulate their lids. I used spray foam in my Igloo lid and extended my ice by half a day. You need to remove the lid and bore several holes in the edge of the lid to prevent the foam from balooning the lid. You might let the lid foam cure a few days before use.
