Before people start saying something, he did not work at the hotel. How do I know you may ask? I didn’t see a name tag or a walkie talky. I saw a room key on his hand and I knew he didn’t work there. I did not wanna escalate the situation by starting an argument because I’m not that type of person to do that, I like to respect people because I believe that you should treat people the way you wanna be treated ofc. I feel like he crossed the line by cussing me out saying that I better get out of here even though he didn’t have the right to tell me what to do since he wasn’t an employee or the manager to be exact. So before people start to go after me, please read this carefully. Once again, he does not work at the hotel. Plus him saying “They said you weren’t supposed to do that.” no one told me anything when I walked in the hotel. I don’t know if he’s doing this to scare me but if he did, he definitely failed because I wasn’t scared or a possibility, he could be drunk. I left the hotel so I don’t have to keep dealing with this situation and I don’t want things to escalate.
This elevator was pretty cool though! I would come back here but after what happened, I don’t feel comfortable being there again. Not that I’m scared it’s just I don’t wanna make the situation worst. If you wanna stop at this location, that’s up to you but I highly advise you to be careful if you don’t wanna run up to that Kevin guy that was a guest in the hotel.

I wouldn't count this as a bust as no hotel personnel were involved. This was a drunk dude looking for trouble. He has no right to tell you what you can and can not do and cannot tell you to leave the property since he is not a hotel employee or owner. Since that guy was not someone who works for the hotel, this doesn't count as a bust since no hotel personnel got involved.

Yeah, that dude sounded drunk to me. This right here is why I rarely film with people inside the elevator. Only time I do so is when the place is ridiculously busy and even then, I make sure the camera isn't in plain sight for people to see.

Most of the time people won't give you trouble if your filming even with others in the elevator as long as you don't get them on video. Nobody can tell you to stop unless it's security, staff, or even the owner.

When my brother and I got caught riding the elevator in the parking garage, (they didn’t have any no trespassing signs or anything,) I just went down to the main floor because my dad was waiting for both of us in his car. The guard was really nice about it though. He told us to keep the location undisclosed, so that’s what I did when I posted the video. My dad even explained why we were in the parking garage to the guard.

You're not alone, I got busted at a Marriott Hotel recently, by staff member. As for the Kevin, it's an example of some guests who are not comfortable with people who film elevators at a hotel they stay at, I'm just saying, I could be wrong. Yet, he had the right to NOT bust you like that.

Wow… that guy (or guest) was so rude to you about filming the elevator. He doesn’t have any authority to tell you to stop filming, since he doesn’t work there. I don’t go to these smaller Hotels to often since they are not as busy and can be more suspicious filming elevators. (Unless, I was a guest or maybe thought the elevators were cool of course. But I would be on the cautious side.) But these are nice elevators though! I like seeing Westinghouse elevators from around this era.

WOW! That Kevin guy was an idiot and definitely drunk right there and should've not rudely told you what to do like that, which he should not be like that at all since he is NOT an employee! The part where he cussed you out kinda upset me a little more and I would personally feel offended if that happened to me while filming. I'm sure you're not the only one that gets busted so much, I've gotten busted a couple times before and sadly one of them was with a legit female Karen, which you probably know about already. It's sad that people these days just thinks it's right for them to boycott photography and hate to say this but stuff like that is what is making this hobby hard for us to enjoy while those other people have a crisis over them for dumb certain reasons. And personally this is why I don't really feel comfortable filming at smaller hotels since they are the hardest to get into just to film elevators unless if I am a guest

That’s part of the reason why I don’t go to smaller Hotels too. I go to more of the major ones in the area, when I have a chance. (Unless I was a guest at one of these smaller Hotels.) Karen’s and Kevin’s especially can be so entitled.

That’s true. Being Visually Impaired with a Guide Dog, I don’t think people would mess with me either, if I was filming an elevator. I always face the camera down when somebody gets on the elevator with me and my GD. I haven’t been busted by a Karen or Kevin yet either. I’ve only had one experience where a security guard at a parking garage next to an office building was really nice with My Brother and I were doing on the elevator, even though we got caught. But at the same time, it’s risky since us disabled people are unfortunately more vulnerable in some situations.

The worst possibly only prior "guest buster" treatment happened to me in 2015 at the Residence Inn Central Park. At least you weren't reported unlike me. Fortunately I've returned there a few times since without any more incident.

It is an odd hobby that we do. (When I tell people that ask me about it, I just say, ”it’s a hobby that a lot of us have.”) I do that because people sometimes associate it with disabled folks or think we’re weird, but I normalize it because it should be treated as such in my opinion. I personally never care what people think of me, since I enjoy it and the rest of us. (None of us should care what people think either.) My coworkers that I work with, think my content is really cool though! If certain people have a problem with us filming elevators then, whatever.
