Abandoned Dover Impulse Hydraulic Elevator at An Abandoned Building in Vancouver, BC

Filmed March 2018.
Rather dilapidated and beat up elevator. Glass but otherwise rather basic though how grotty this was gave it character. There is graffiti all over it, it is VERY BEAT UP and the phone literally fell out when I opened it!!! LOL!!!! This building was part of Emily Carr University, but now they switched locations and this building is now abandoned. I'd assume fairly recently it was abandoned as the elevator still works so there is obviously electricity, but the vandals have already ruined this place. The fact however this elevator still runs well in the building like this is indeed a testament to Dover's amazing quality!!! Anyways, that all being said, let's ride this very dilapidated but well running elevator in this abandoned building!!!

I live in Vancouver.......and go to Granville Island all the time......That building used to be really nice up until 2015 when the Art University moved out.......never seen that elevator in such worse shape....It used to be a nice fancy elevator......the building itself looks kinda worn down now too.....they had a nice coffee bar on the top floor too.....kinda too bad..... Vancouver itself is a great city and spectacular scenery.....and alot of really nice people

I actually got stuck in the elevator in August 2022 at a abandoned shopping center parking garage in Durham NC. Which however most abandoned places if the elevators are still working it could get you stuck. However I unfortunately deleted that video of getting stuck.

Were they still moving out of the building? Most likely either the elevator is still being inspected for some reason, or maybe it hasn't expired yet so they haven't taken it out of service yet.

Another company will be taking over the place soon. Most of the stuff has been moved. Keep in mind that there is a public parking garage that is still needed to handle the demand for parking at Granville Island.

I don't know if you'd be able to ride them, but the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel in Vancouver has 19 floor Otis Touch. I haven't heard anything about them being modded but when I was there in 2014 and 2016, they were the same.

When Emily Carr University moved to somewhere else back in August 2017, there was no announcement that this building will demolish. In November 2017, an arts company announced that they will take over the South Building. It was also announced that the North Building will become an arts and entertainment hub. Notice that the arrows, most numbers on the indicator, and button still lights up when you select a floor? This is probably due to preparation for the arts company to open, and that there is a parking garage, which is still needed as Granville Island is a very popular spot for tourism. I remember back when Emily Carr University moved, the elevator was turned off for some time before it was decided that it will run again.
