Funnily enough, it's actually closer in its instrumentation to the Jonas Brothers' cover of the song, if you can believe it. They didn't use any electronics for their cover, just all real instruments.

Scsigs Scsigs Yeah I can't tell whether some of their tracks on album 1 & 2 had a drum machine instead of the real thing. Charlie can be seen playing drums live even in the 2004 tour so it doesn't make any sense why they wouldn't use actual drums unless it was the producers call. He had an electric drum kit as well though, as seen in the interview touring their flat in 2003, so maybe they used that. Charlie actually spoke in a recent interview about how he used to get pissed when the producers allowed them "no control once (their songs) reached the mixing desks". What a fucking shame. "Dawson's Geek" was amazing in this tour! I think "All The Way" would sound amazing with a pop-punk version. Busted always wanted to be a pop-punk band since the first album (A Present To Everyone is a pop-punk album with a lot of pop in it).

Yeah, Charlie said in his interview on Sappenin podcast that this was how he wanted them to sound first time around but the label and people around them pushed them towards the poppier end of things. When they reunited he said that they decided to change the sounds of the older songs live to be like they were originally intended to be.

Their management really fucked up the whole breaking America thing. Back then, bands having a cool video was a big deal here in America. And though I can laugh at the video now as a fan, I remember seeing them for the first time on TRL and thinking the video was just so cringe. Like who the hell are these British dudes with choreographed jumping and why does it look like it was made 5 years ago? They either needed to re-shoot the video or pick a different song for them. Falling For You with a decent video would have been perfect. I don't know how their management expected them to break our huge country and not even spend some money to give them their best shot
