WWE sells entertainment. Jim Ross sells wrestling. It doesn't matter if it's real fake whatever. If you can't put your heart into "wrestling", you can't put your audience's heart into it. That's the problem with WWE announcers. They don't believe in the wrestling they're watching. They're just trying to tell a story they can't even pretend is real.

I agree with Ross about treating pro-wrestling as a sport. Even if its a performance, WWE has become so comfortable with the shattered illusion/behind the scenes stuff that they no longer have the willing suspension of disbelief. They've become so enamored with telling us how the trick is done, they've forgotten the value of sometimes letting the audience wonder how it was done.

erokraider NXT seems to be the only place to get a 3 man commentary booth right. Mauro’s energy is crazy and all 3 work around it perfectly while he seems to know what he’s talking about. Nigel brings a ton of knowledge and experience to matches making them a sense of realism that we don’t get on the main roster. Percy gets hate but he is improving at a rapid pace and playing off Nigel and Mauro is making him much better, and he definitely has his moments where he can go from good to great. They’re honestly one of the major reasons NXT is so watchable

WWE's main shows are pretty much unwatchable now. I'm getting far more from the NXT shows, MLW, ROH.. Hell.. Even Impact! Hearing Cornette and Schiavone on MLW has ironically been a breath of fresh air. It's going to be the same when we hear Jim Ross calling AEW.

I'm being honest here, but that's such a sweeping generalisation. There are loads of wrestlers that sell their absolute ass off on the indies. The issue is that when it comes to social media, sharing gifs, short Twitter or Facebook videos or highlight reels often tend to be the high spot stuff on the indie scene. Also, if you watch Japanese wrestling, it's all about selling. I'm watching the Champion Carnival that All Japan are running (which is their G1) and the selling and psychology is top drawer. The young lions who come up through the Japanese system are trained to understand the necessity of selling. Heck, Minoru Suzuki actually grapples with them before the New Japan shows to teach them where the holds cause pain. JR actually told the story on his podcast after calling WK9.

I think JR will put most- if not all -of the AEW talents at ease because of his experience and working relationships from WCW and WWE. I’m concerned about that talk of “multiple” VPs, though. Love it or hate it, the “one leader” organization in WWE has kept the company from going into disarray. Yeah, it’s suffering creatively, but that can be fixed (we’ve hoped). As JR said, there’s going to be rough times for any start up and you need strong leadership to get you through it...even when giving up seems like the best option. Persevere, AEW...your journey is only beginning. And yes, I know it’s pro wrestling not LOTR! 😆
