One of the very few men who exude otherworld child like sadness and twinning that with curiosity, a problem solver, an innovator and adorable to extremes. Those eyes, that hair, that face. Even the way he wears a sports vest is cutesy. He's made for walking in the rain with a brolly that has holes in it, and tea parties with soft toys. He reminds me of BB8 from Star Wars. Just huggable. Can you tell I have an ever lasting crush on him!

While filming "The General", Keaton and the crew would play baseball with the locals each Sunday. Buster was apparently an excellent player, and some observers thought he was good enough to play in the pro leagues.

People in history, compared to our times, were more athletic and ''fit''. A couple of the possible reasons could be; a) they ate wholesome non-gmo foods, ate unrefined meat and did not eat refined carbs and sugars like widespread in modern times, b) they very more physicaly active whether they lived in rural or metropolitan areas, this was a global occurance.

Buster would have been around 30 when he played a college freshman in this movie in 1927. He was so youthful and vibrant throughout the silent movie era, regardless of his actual age, and only seemed to age once the era of talking pictures started and he also developed a drinking problem.

Buster and chaplin were very funny in silent movies. When audio became available in the movie picture indutry, I feel both their personalities changed and I didn't like their voices it didn't match and the normal speed of frame rate changed everything. This however, on contrast was the best thing to happen to laurel and hardy because their personalities were finally presented better and they became loved even where the higher speed filming slowed to normal speed. Laurel and Hardy were meant to be movie picture stars from the silent era whereas Chaplin and buster were better at these times.

I remember participating in such games.. all those who had girlfriends wanted 1 day vacation so they put my name ( extremely single back then) in the games.. in events I never knew the rules ... I tried to through ball... 1 through was cancelled because of wrong technique rest were outside of the line... interesting part was nobody bothered... similar experience like this clip

I'm always quick to mention Buster Keaton as one of my favorites, but visually, the shot put gag didn't really work. The gag is he's too weak, but he's visibly better toned, and more athletic then most of the "athletes" shown in the film.... he does the gag well, but it just doesn't sell for me in this case.

He creates so intense action scenes, uses so unusual camera angles, ingenious camera tricks, and explores self-reflective cinema narrative, that it's hard to believe, that his films were made about 100 years ago. In last restorations they looks like modern stylisation.
