I have extensive experience with upwards of eighteen language learning apps and moderate experience with just under forty of them. And I’m still waiting for the time when I disagree with one of your reviews and recommendations. (It hasn’t happened yet.) 🙂 I think your assessments are spot on, and your subscribers would do well to heed your counsel - yes, even allowing that there is no one-size-fits-all methodology that works well for everyone. Yes and no. RS would be better paired with Rocket or Pimsleur

@@Guide2Fluency, I agree. Rocket or Pimsleur make a better “mate” for Rosetta Stone. With their focus on audio, they complement the visual orientation of Rosetta Stone in a way that Busuu does not. I would actually prefer even Babbel to Busuu as a supplement to Rosetta Stone - notwithstanding Busuu’s much hyped community feature. One thing I have noted about Busuu’s community feature is that it has the potential to divert the language-learner from their studies and to retard their progress rather than to enhance it. The feedback one gets can be very uneven in its reliability. Some people will report that one’s speech or writing exercise is “perfect” when in fact the vocabulary or grammar is faulty. So this is a hit-and-miss proposition. I like the community feature as a concept, but in practice, it often fails to live up to its promise. Rocket hits the sweet spot here for holding the user’s hand while also encouraging them to dive into dialogue. It’s the best of the bunch. But for a more affordable alternative, Babbel is a good start, and Rosetta Stone can be the supplement to Babbel.
