Run 10 to 15 lb of pressure in your tires and it should just drive right over the saint with no problem. Dropping the air pressure that low actually gives you more traction on the sand. Less of a possibility of getting stuck

Easy to see the smart people who let their tyres down; they just cruise by, regardless of vehicle type or tyre size. The ones that have no clue are bogged. And yes keep spinning your wheels so you can rest on your guts.

@jonwhite32655 жыл бұрын
There's literally only one thing on sand - tyre pressure. The people floating past have their tyres down low. My 80 series is loaded extremely heavy and I have never once been bogged in sand and I've driven it all from sand dunes in Tassy to the Simpson Desert all the way over to the Canning Stock route and Lancelin Dunes. Comparatively to some of this places Inskip is a walk in the park but you have to drop your pressures and not just a little bit either...start at 18 and go down from there.

a few get bogged... the track gets cleared and dozens just idle past. work it out fellas it ain't the soft sand. its soft tyres. just let your tyres down and on your trailer too.
@adambennett11935 жыл бұрын
why would the trailer matter? there is no driving force its just floating above the sand?
@adambennett11935 жыл бұрын
@Hooha888 meh im sceptical, the purpose of letting tyres down is to spred the load and creat a larger footprint like you say and reduce wheel spin there for digging a hole. there is no driving force from the trailer. cant see it really mattering. if it does its probably very minimal. once your moving I cant see how it digs in. maybe if you've bogged and come to a complete stop the initial take off might drag the trailer causing it to create drag.
@adambennett11935 жыл бұрын
@Hooha888 perhaps, how ever I think it would have the reverse effect, you've created a larger surface which is dragging more. what causes you to bog? wheel spin, not necessarily tyre pressure. there is no driving force there for no wheel spin, lowering the tyre will create more drag. like sitting on the back with a 265mm stick in the sand vs a 285 ( tyre pressure lower ) you're gonna drag more the lower it goes. I understand what your saying with the wheel spinning slower but where talking about 35psi not 60 etc. either way its my bed time :)
@alc75055 жыл бұрын
@@adambennett1193 nah your wrong mate. Can tell you from experience. Not letting your trailer tyres down is the equivalent to towing a 2t anchor through the sand (assuming the trailer is 2t of course) have to let them right down too or else you aint going nowhere fast!!!!
@davidstephens10925 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Adam, if the tyres are sized for Beach Driving. I have a 1200Kg trailer that we have taken to Fraser and it runs effortlessly over soft sand at full Hwy pressures 25psi. It is tandem axle non load sharing and is fitted with 4 31X10.50 R15s . Yes, way over spec as far as load charts etc etc. But at 25psi they sit with the correct bulge and no signs of uneven wear. However while the theory is correct, if your tyres are only standard road going { small in diameter and narrow } then it is necessary to deflate them, but its a fairly easy and inexpensive exercise to modify a trailer and have it complianced. Aim for between .12 and .15 of a square metre of tyre area per ton gross weight, most trailers are around .075 . The fuel savings on the beach are good but its even more satisfying towing it past someone who is stuck & no doubt has a higher tyre pressure than their IQ level. For anyone who doesn't believe Adam get a bag trolley, put 35kgs on it, & pull it across some soft sand, now let the tyres down till they bulge like you would have your trailer tyres and try it again. And could someone please tell me why the yanks who don't even use the metric system still try to insist that we spell metre their way via spell check.

If you give any of this clueless drivers paddle tires they will bog down even worse. Paddle tires require specific tire pressure depending on the vehicle used and momentum, plus a lot of power.
