Back in the mid-70's I worked with a young New Zealand engineer, used to tell me all about NZ . . . wish I had of made an effort way back then to relocate . . . sure love the look of your winters 😀 Gary used to tell me about playing footy and racing bikes mid winter. Price of lamb here in Aussie is dismal as well. Good lambs down to $5 kilo last week so we are nervous about what they will do in the spring as well

Best way anyone I seen describing body condition scoring, €6.70/kg base for lamb only way there going down. Cattle €6.00 base breakeven factory price now €4. 75 - 4.80 base not good going to be hard to attract young blood into the industry if this keeps going cheers from Ireland.

Jasper’s just so excited and wanted to do his bark. Love him. Great he will have his jacket. So did I hear you right, a ewe that was a twin at birth will be in better condition than a ewe that was a single at birth, pre lambing? Is that because their mothers may have been on better feed pre lambing or what?

A ewe in better condition will carry twins a ewe in poorer condition will likely only carry a single. Although there's always one thin one that insists on having 3. Quite often the thin ones at tupping reared 2 the previous season. They're thin because they worked so hard.

You said lamb was down to 7, what was it at before it dropped?

Was sitting about 7.60 so far. Normally the price trends up and doesn't drop till about Christmas time. So for it to drop now is not good.

@@kiwifarmernz I’m sorry. That’s tough with commodities. We are making sure our retail Berkshire pigs business takes off before we commit to market hogs get some extra cash flow going but always makes me nervous to rely on a rigged market(at least in the US). Hope it comes up for you we’ll be watching.

These are either full Perendale or half Perendale half Texel.

What sort of scanning percentage did you get on your ewes? And generally converting that to lambs at docking, does that reduce much…. do you lose many at birthing.

These scanned about 160% we normally tail around 150% so 10% loss.
