Teaching clean up now is GREAT! You go momma! It helps with transitioning , my daughter was in speech & motor skill therapy and they thought her clean up or would tell her “okay two more minutes of play before books go bye bye” it helped her understand it was almost time for us to go and helped with tantrums instead of them just taking the book or toy away😃

Hi Allison, As an early childhood teacher, I want to thank you for teaching your son to tidy up. It is such an important life skill which benefits society in general. Children learn these skills from a very early age through breaking down the task. It starts with putting a few toys in the basket and will slowly build up. Also play is enhanced the next time by having a tidy space to come back to. Thank you for sharing this idea.

I love that your teaching him early to clean up after himself! I feel it’s never too early. I used to work in daycare with toddlers who were 1 and a half to 2 and a half years old and we would teach them to throw out their own garbage after lunch/snack and also to clean up the toys when it was time for a new activity and let me tell you, we had SOO many parents telling us how happy they were that their kids started cleaning at home! Teaching them independence is awesome!

We always clean up and my son is almost three!! We end everyday with a clean house so we can start fresh the next day!! It’s good for them to learn when their young so good for you!!! 😊👊🏻

Don’t feel bad teaching your baby to clean!! I have a toddler (2) and we (mostly me still) clean up ever night before bed. It’s good for them and for mama with a clean room 😊

Kids love to copy their parents. My 2 year old likes to copy me and take a rag and go around “cleaning” around the house. So yeah, keep doing those good habits. They pay off.

It's really good to teach Landon to clean up. My granddaughter learned from about the same age. She picks up after herself and reminds her papa to pick up to. Do what you do! It really works. My granddaughter is going to be 4 in 2weeks and she plays like a maniac by cleans up up too! You go momma!!!

I love this blog and you’re an amazing mama! I think it’s so awesome that you are teaching him to pick up early! I don’t think it ever is too early! I was an infant teacher for a while and we would talk about cleaning about and sang about it! My brother and sister in law taught about cleaning up learning to my nephew and he’s almost 3 now and he cleans up after himself and all his friends at school! When we were at Disney, kids were throwing mulch out the playground and he was picking it up and putting it back! So definitely not silly to start young, babies are smart!

Honestly when my daughter was toodler it was easier because I taught her early the clean up song then we would clean up so she would pick up the toys but them in the bin it may not be the most organized way u want the toys but they made it to the toy box or bins

Aww. I hope Landon feels better soon. My youngest baby boy turned 1 year old on March 1st and we had to postpone his party because he got sick a week before his birthday. These viruses are awful this year. My 4 year old caught it a week later and my 2 year old and I are currently sick.

Nothing wrong with teaching your kid to clean up. Our place was too small to have toys all over so we taught our son that he could have one toy(like all his cars for example) out at a time, and had to put those away before he pulled anything else out. Never was an issue, and he even taught his friends! :) PS you skin is looking great, I'm glad you found something that works for you!
