Coming back to BusyWorksBeats after a break from music is helping me get back into it again. I was a HUGE fan of BWB back in 2011 and I was watching video after video and even downloading his videos to study each one and improve my craft and let me tell you.. even though I haven’t seen everything of his especially lately.. the guy is the man. You can go back years even and find absolute gold on his channel. Don’t miss out on all the content he has available. You will learn so much from him. He’s been doing this forever now.

I just want to say, this is a master-class... I don't do this professionally, more for fun, but you have me thinking about how I structure things; I haven't really tried a half-time beat but I kind of want to know because it feels a bit more versatile than it did before. A bit more work, but for a major step up on progress for me. So thank you for this, from the bottom of my heart. People like myself who have played instruments and can read music get it, but we don't really GET it until you really break something down like this and make people THINK.

When in double time I learned that the time stamps to bar measurements change gradually as the bpm raises, 140bpm half-timed to 70bpm means that 8beats for every two bars at 70bpm is 4beats for every two bars at 140bpm

On the real. I studied Audio Production at the art institute and I've learned more in just a few of your videos than I did in a single year at school. I think that's because the schools teach you like a tutorial, like, do this, do that, it sounds like this, you passed...but with no real understanding of the processes; whereas you are teaching literally HOW to make the MUSIC, which is really what people are after.

16:04 One word: Velocity. Slightly adding velocity to your hats will also add movement and a lil realism. Try it, especially on the rolls 🥃
@DenisAshton3 жыл бұрын
The half timing thing makes sense. You make the bpm higher so that u can make those hats faster. In step sequencer.

Man he's spot on about the tempo thing lol. I had a homie that would just start recording as soon as he opened his DAW. Never adjusted the tempo. He used Reason. I would always ask why he recorded so fast and he didn't get it smh. And he recorded the more "boom bap" tracks. I thought he should be in the more 90-100 bpm range. He didn't tho lol. These are the self taught producers. They just make it work
@casecold18642 жыл бұрын
For recording this has absolutely no purpose, other than rhythm maybe. You just zoom in to the grid, it's nothing magical, you just have more space to place your hats.

I normally look for the natural BPM of the music i'm going to make and then double it. For instance, if im making a slower beat that has a natural 80BPM, in order to give myself some room to add on-beat/off-beat nuance sounds, I double the BPM, in this case to 160. Back in the 80s and 90s when I was making beats, it was mostly all natural BPMs. Today it's more expansive.
