Being a millennial and therefore knowing personally as friends or acquaintances many LGB people I have been witness to at least 5 gays or lesbians become straight and I find that to be very revealing. There seems to be a health element to it as best I can tell. One guy I know wasn’t the best looking kid when we were growing up and he had a lot of health problems related to thyroid and hormones but in his early 30’s he started eating right, exercising, and getting his underlying issues addressed with medical intervention and out of nowhere he became straight. He told me one night when we’re out with a group of friends that he was at the gym and he noticed a slender woman on the treadmill in front of him and he became overwhelmed by how attractive he found her. This was the first time he ever felt this apparently. I think our environment both social and health wise is a huge factor in all of this. I guess the pray the gay away crew are on to something after all!

What is the perfect love that casts out fear? (1 John 14:18): The “fear” here is the fear of God’s judgment. Those who feel condemned are not made perfect in His love because of sin. We all must grow in God’s love the same way a baby grows in the flesh. A baby is nothing like an adult and they have no discernment; the same is true for those who first turn to God-they are like a baby and must be nurtured in the spirit. But as we walk, talk, and pray to and with God, He gives us discernment and we grow in love and in spirit, becoming mature until we are made perfect in His love. We grow and become more and more like Jesus Christ. Then we know God will happily accept us.

Hey brother. Once again, I appreciate what you do, but the word Katecho (Romans 1:18) does not mean suppress, but it means hold. Look up all 19 times that the Greek word is used in the New Testament and the picture is of grabbing something and holding it tightly, not suppressing or denying. It agrees with the rest of Romans one saying that the people he’s talking about held the truth, which means they understood it to be true, which agrees with what Paul just said about everybody knows God so everyone knows the truth in unrighteousness. They know it is right but they do wrong anyways. I’m not sure where this whole I’m suppressing the truth thing came from. Probably a Calvinist. Have a blessed day.

We have all sinned and fallen short to meet the standard set for perfect righteousness, which is the only thing that gets into heaven. You have blood on your hands by your own admission, you’ve told lies, maybe stolen something, looked at women with lust in your heart. Just one of these things one single time makes you unworthy to be in the presence of perfect holiness. So think about how big your debt is. Because we can’t go back in time and undo these things, God cannot overlook them and still be perfectly righteous and just, so He must execute punishment for these crimes, which is eternal hell and separation from God. That’s how serious sin is. It is not as though you will stand before God when you die and He will weigh your good deeds and bad deeds on the scale to see what happens, you have already been found guilty. The Bible says that “the wrath of God abides on you”. You’re sitting on eternal death row right now with God’s wrath looming over your head, and by His mercy He allows you more breath here, with good food, and loved ones, and most importantly to hear this gospel, before He collects His debt. This is why we need Jesus. Jesus Christ was the only human to ever live and NEVER commit a single sin, by God’s objective standard, He was and is perfect. The Bible says that “the wages of sin is death”, since Christ never sinned, He was not owed death. Yet, knowing your sin and your hopelessness before God, He decided to lay His life down willingly in your place. This is what makes God unique in that He can be both perfectly just and merciful. God’s Word tells us that Jesus bore our sin in His body on the cross. So literally on the cross there was an exchange made, Jesus traded our sin for the perfect sinless righteousness He earned. On the cross God saw our sin all over Him, all His people’s sin, and poured out His wrath upon it, but now because of that when we stand before Him on judgement day, He sees us wearing Christ’s perfect righteousness. That’s what it is to be “in Christ”. Jesus did this for us, died, and rose again on the 3rd day, and He now lives forever with all of those who call upon His name for salvation. He offers you perfect peace, wholeness, and forgiveness. You must repent, which is turn away from your sin and to Him, and believe in this sacrifice He made on your behalf. Do it while you have time my friend, it is urgent. God bless you! Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

A belief in God is critical, because if they don't believe in God, and also don't understand why acting on gay feelings is harmful based in their own wisdom, and nobody else in their life has sufficient knowledge, wisdom, and caring to be able to help them understand why it's harmful, then they'll have nowhere to go to find answers to these things that are hard for them to understand. That means they'll inevitably end up believing that acting on gay feelings is not harmful, and it's understandable why they end up believing that. I believe acting on gay feelings is harmful. I'm not wise enough yet to know how to fully explain why it's harmful. But I trust in God and in His loving commandments. I trust that obeying His commandments is always in our best long-term personal interest. I have felt God's love, and the presence of His Holy Spirit, to help affirm the truth of these things. If people disagree, or even if they scoff at my claim of what I have felt, or say it doesn't mean what I think it means, all I say is that I respect their right to feel that way, but I hope that one day, in this life or in the next, they will feel differently. What I have come to believe and know so far is that men and women are equal but different. Different, but complementary. Different does not mean one is good and the other is bad. Both can be good-- but incomplete without the other. There are many aspects to this- psychological, emotional, spiritual, physical, mental... As you think about and ponder on the differences in these different categories, remember these things I said- different does not mean good vs bad. The differences between men and women are a good thing. We complement each other in all of these ways. Note that sexuality is only one aspect of all of these things. Normally men and women are sexually attracted to one another. But when that is not the case, there is still so much more to being a man or to being a woman than just that. And it is still absolutely true that men and women complement one another-- even when a certain man is not sexually attracted to women, or vice versa. And marriage is about so much more than just sex. It about a union unlike any other kind of union. One in which all the categories I mentioned previously come into play- very forcefully sometimes. Everyone is different though, and I'm not advocating that a gay man marrying a woman, or vice versa, should be a form of therapy or resolution. What I am saying is that marriage is a sacred institution, and a very purposeful one, and the kind of love that goes into and develops within a marriage is about so much more than just sex, or sexual attraction. There are divine (wise even beyond our understanding) purposes for why marriage should be reserved to be between a man and woman. Even if you don't believe in the divine, just think of it as meaning wise beyond our understanding. At least look to history, in the cases that are complex and beyond our understanding, and see what kind of things history has shown us and taught us. Everyone's in a different place in this life. I'm sure that in general, I may believe certain things that are not quite correct also. God works with us all individually, according to what we're ready to learn. He also leads us to further knowledge and wisdom, when we are ready for it. It often comes from other people, when we are humble enough and wise enough to receive it. But I sure hope people understand that the truth matters, and that our choices have real consequences.

Praying for you Russell and team. I know Russell is a historian and was wondering this: to be president you must be 35+ and reside in the country for 14+ years. Both limitations are factors of 7.
