While the message of looking beyond color is a good one, I would not hold up the words of MLK jr on any kind of a pedestal. The man was vile. Look into his proclivities if you are not aware. I think AR did a clever thing by forcing these college students to blatantly contradict one of their cultural icons, but I suspect that the folks at AR would also not give too much credence to the man.

@@sevencrickets9258 that's like saying that we have to throw away the Psalms just because David sinned. Oh, so-and-so wasn't perfect so nothing they ever said mattered, is both an ad hominem fallacy and cancel culture to the max.
@sevencrickets92588 ай бұрын
@@theTavis01 Ok. Let's be honest. Parts of our culture worship the man (not good). To compare him to David is absurd. David sinned, as do we all, and was disciplined harshly by God, and repented of his wicked deeds. I don't see those kinds of fruits in MLK Jr. He and his words are put on a pedestal, and I don't think we should do that given that he, by all accounts, was an unrepentant God hating man. Any good principle the man spoke of is in the text of scripture. I submit that christians should go there as the foundation (not what the op was doing).

@sevencrickets92588 ай бұрын
@@theTavis01 Are you aware of what multiple witnesses have accused him of? He was accused of plagiarism in association with both his dissertation and many of his sermons (that's stealing). The FBI is a witness of multiple affairs he was having, along with sexual assault allegations, and I believe illicit drug use. It is my understanding that there are other witnesses as well, minimally the victims of said sexual assault. He was living this way up to his dying day, and was openly lying by presenting himself as something other than that. Sounds a lot like Ravi Zacharias, who I would also tell people not to hold in too high esteem. If you are not for God, you are against him. If you do not love God, you hate him. Talk is cheap, but his actions were that of a man who was actively living in sin (aka being against God....aka hating God).

I am really struggling to be polite here. Smug people really are the worst. I realize they have been indoctrinated, hence the politeness. I would like to hear ( actually I probably would not) what the conversation with their friends was after they left. To me, in my view, the girl was very racist in the way she presented herself. I don't know if I am allowed to say that, said it anyway. Russell did phenomenal job of patience here !!!!

This is an example of idolatry of one's skin color or culture. I grew up believing we were all the children of God and to not judge by the way a person looks . Of course we all have sinful flaws

I think we should look past the students and what they are thinking to what got them at this point. Having a society that shirks the responsibility of raising up their own children in favor of admitting them into schools for most of the day, 5 days a week, means this was bound to happen. The values of a corrupt government are passed down rather than that of the parents to children. These colleges are the same as is evident. We shouldn’t be surprised that they agree with society as a whole, as society is mostly raising them.

I'm probably one of the few atheist abolitionists here. I don't see a need for religion to be for human rights for all humans. Keep up the good work! Also, the racism of these people is pretty disgusting.
@Rollacoastertycoon8 ай бұрын
Why do you care about abolitionist then if you don’t believe in god ? If there’s no god there’s really no rules right? So abolition is neither bad or good so why abolish it? You feel something inside telling you it’s evil but you assume you know what’s good and evil . Atleast you care about life

Molecules bumping into each other don't carry any further moral heft than a wave in the ocean. Does the wave have a right to exist because of its direction of travel? Does the rock of the coast violate the wave's state of being for standing in its way? Does the wave aggress the coast by existing in a shared space? Who am I to decide what is right or wrong if I respond only to the chemical stimuli of my senses? It's no different than a wave being perpetuated by a gravitational force which it also has no control over! And if there is no moral quandry when a rogue wave rises higher than others, or between waves crashing in different directions...why is there any matter if one disagrees and aggresses another? If one kills and cannibalizes another, they're the equivalent of a taller wave overcoming a shorter one. You are either fully material, or you are partially transcendent.

wow, an actual discussion without people yelling over each other. That went better then I anticipated. I wish the presidential debates (if one candidate doesn't hide in the basement and they actually have them) had a digital timer, and when the clock hit zero, their microphone would be cut off so the other person could answer uninterrupted.
